Very nice, but a bit too ornate for my taste. I can't imagine hunting with this rifle, but for a collector, why not. Whatever floats your boat and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

There are a lot of guns made here in Ferlach, Suhl and Elm that are at that level with he big carvings and engraving.

Hofer is my favorite, but there are quite a few more that do work like that.

+1 with @375 Ruger Fan. A remarkable beautiful rifle and ornamentation, just too ornate for a usable hunting rifle. JMO, the stock minus the bear inlay, and bolt handle would have been enough to still allow the rifle to be hunted with.

Typical Nils Hultgren stock work including all the Carved Ivory. His initials are on the Carved Bear. This would have been one of his last works for Weatherby in 1963 - he went to work for Winslow Arms in 1964. Unfortunately, unknown who did all fabulous Engraving and Gold work. BTW, 300 Wby Mag caliber.

Not my cup of tea but I do appreciate the work that went into embellishing the rifle. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

That's really cool, I seen lots of German guns done like this, they did a lot of stand hunting, so guns like this were used and if scratched or marred, were normally fixed. Nice rifle, I like carving and engraving, but this is a little over the top, even for me.

very nice but would be a problem to sell in this country due to the ivory inlays, customs and fish and game would be a problem. by law ivory can only be sold in the state it is located in and only to a resident of that state. I checked on this with a local game warden when I wanted to buy some for pistol grips.

Not so ... Weatherby and Winslow rifles with ivory inlays are sold at auction every day .. There were a bunch sold recently .... also search proxibid for guns with the word "ivory" - all kinds of Colts (old and modern) and 2 Winslow rifles, and 6 Weatherby Custom Crown rifles with Ivory inlays are currently for sale - however, "raw ivory" is a different matter. see here for details - https://www.fws.gov/frequently-asked-questions-about-elephant-ivory

There would be no problem importing this rifle into the U.S.

Lots of work but not enough good taste unfortunately Not my cup of tea at all.

Meh
I appreciate the artistry but enough to be classless.
Art is subjective.

I have always been a fan of "radical" Winslow rifles and I collected them. I owned all the ones shown below. Nils Hultgren did all the stocks and inlays. Like this Weatherby above, many people were very critical of their "over-the-top" style and poo-poo'd them . All these Winslow rifles ultimately sold for very BIG BUCKS - several sold for 5 figures $xx,xxx.oo .... proving that there are a lot of collectors today, that love the "flash from the past".

Probably someone in Riyadh or Doha that would offer you a premium for it.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
