Not to be confused with nor compared to Dem politicians like AOC who go from bartender wages to multimillionaires and are not transactional…. Right !
Not to mention your very own fellow commiefornian Pelosi who has to be the most brilliant market investor to ever grace the swamp,
So, we should follow their example even though we criticize them for it?

Every time someone on our side does something questionable y’all point to the other side to excuse it. Thought we were supposed to be electing guys with integrity.

Training ops and deployment are not the same. A deployment for a carrier group would be 6-10 months. Usually in a hostile environment to project sea power.

A training op, working with other nations would be weeks long. Sea trials and various hurdles, training regimen must be successful before a carrier goes on its first deployment.
That's not how it works.

The workup would be in home waters. An operational deployment would include exercises in the Area of Operations.

If you go to the link I shared, you will see that the ship left Norfolk in May of 2004 to go south of South America to go to her home port in San Diego. No side trips to the Baltic.

From there, she was home ported in San Diego, and spent most of her time with 5th Fleet. She would have been attached to 3rd Fleet while crossing the Pacific, and again on her way home.

At no point was she with 6th Fleet.

In this case, Gotland was attached to 3rd Fleet in San Diego, as Reagan was doing work ups. New ship, new crew, new Carrier Strike Group... There's a lot to unpack with all this.

But it's not like I used to do this kind of stuff for a living.

The same news, different link. Better?

I'll give him credit: he's consistent, with firing people if he doesn't like what they say...

With all due respect, I believe he was fired for the inconsistencies between preliminary and final reports that has become a problem lately.

I was on the USS Seawolf SSN 575 out of Mare Island from 1981 through 1986. We used parts that were made for the Nautilus and Thresher on the wolf. They were mostly parts that were left over ( not used). Miss the old Horse and Cow on Tenesse Street. Home away from the barracks.

I also worked out of Mare Island several different stints. 1981-1982 then late 80s early 90s

I worked with Submariners, but was not a Submariner.

I could have misremembered (not hard at my age), but didn't think so. I also don't believe that I made any assertions about the Baltic. This summarizes a couple of different sources.

The Swedish Gotland-class submarine, HSwMS Gotland, successfully penetrated the defensive measures of Carrier Strike Group 7 (CSG-7) of the United States Navy during a 2005 naval exercise off the coast of California. This carrier strike group was centered around the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The exercise, part of a Joint Task Force Exercise (JTFEX 06-2), involved multiple anti-submarine warfare assets, including destroyers, helicopters, and aircraft, yet the Gotland was able to evade detection and simulate torpedo strikes, effectively "sinking" the USS Ronald Reagan multiple times

No one has yet successfully intercepted an Ohio.

Yes. My point was at the time, CVN-76 had never been on an operational deployment, and there were still a lot of work ups to get through. This includes internal coordination within the CSG. Also important, it was 2004 that the Navy switched from the Carrier Battle Group to the Carrier Strike Group... which brought along an entire new set of coordination problems, and I'm not even sure we've recovered from that yet...

There's a lot to unpack in that evolution...

It’s true that there are a handful of impressive NATO Navies. While not impressive by numbers. The Norwegian, Danish Etc have formidable submarine and Anti submarine capabilities.

The Danes have always been at the forefront in many areas of undersea technology.

Russia and China would be dealt with harshly and quickly (30 days) if all NATO naval forces went against them.

But no single country dominates the 7 seas like the U.S. and no other single country dares going up against our Navy alone. Including Russia and China.

This article scratches the surface of Danish undersea knowledge. They have been one of the world leaders in deep water diving and other undersea technology for decades. Often surpassing the US capabilities in some areas. Just not at the scale of the U.S.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has been jacking around with the numbers for years. long before Trump came along. That leads to potential political abuse and number/statistical corruption. It simply demonstrates that cleaning the deep state swamp will takes years, Trump finally got tired of it. Those hanging on every word of a TDS infected media react as they alwss as do,

It could be that we are seeing a conspiracy or incompetence where none actually exists.

Many (most?) reporting entities - not just in government but in the private sector as well - are in constant tension between publishing information in a timely manner and information which has been verified to the point where it will not change. Ask yourself, for example, where the data on job creation comes from, how many people handle the data before it’s submitted to the federal government, and whether all of those involved in the verification, preparation and presentation of this data use the same level of due diligence as do all the others. Unlikely in the extreme.

Try as they might (and I believe they do try), agencies (or corporations) releasing information regularly go back and re-state information once additional data becomes available. Of course, most adjustments are relatively immaterial, but material changes obviously can and do occur. Agencies facing these situations tend to want to avoid this, for obvious reasons, and regularly review their procedures to identify data integrity failures and prevent their recurrence.

Personally, I’m more likely to believe that data had been tampered with if it never changes after initial release than if it does change. The former state of affairs is likely a statistical impossibility without human manipulation.

When I worked in large public companies, we had monthly financial statements prepared for internal use by about the 5th business day following month end. Of course, we only published quarterly financial information, and we (and the regulators) had something approaching six weeks after the end of the last month of the quarter to finalize the information. Another example of where delay in providing information allows you to verify the data and reduce the chances of re-statement. We could have published sooner, but the chances of mis-statements and restatements would have increase dramatically.

I will say this, as an employee of a land grant university, since Trump took office I have seen net positive change in the bloated bureaucracy of "higher education" as well as the federal institutions that I deal with and I think that if everyone would stifle their political opinions we would all agree that it is for the better.

These improvements include but are not limited to.......

* One university was caught misappropriating $40mil+ of state allocated university funds to a private research entity and the president of the university resigned abruptly when it was discovered that she not only signed off on it, but also sat on the board of directors for this for profit institution.

* When the grants administration head was questioned about other allocations, he abruptly resigned after 29 years with the university.

* The new president implemented the "position justification evaluation board" - This means when a position at the university is vacated by promotion or resignation the board must decide if that position is justified in existing. Most of you who have worked for large companies would be horrified at the amount of redundant administrative staff that bloats universities.

* The local NRCS(natural resource conservation service - federal agency) has seen a reduction of 50% of it's staff after the early retirement buyout offers and subsequent layoffs. Yet services offered have not decreased and much needed accountability has been put in place. Such as this federal office had dished out lots of money for "Agriculture water improvement grants" that are meant to build and maintain livestock ponds and flood control lakes.....

Only it was discovered recently that those grants were issued to property owners that used the grant money to build ponds/lakes on properties that were then developed into housing subdivisions and sold in violation of the grant terms.

* We(sensible employees) have our fingers crossed that the worthless ethnicity data that we are supposed to collect and turn in will be eliminated, untold man hours are spent compiling this data that is largely FICTION submitted to meet diversity requirements. The HR department at the university is terrified that this paperwork will be eliminated because there are numerous employees who's sole responsibility is to gather and compile this data.... It's August and 2024's data has still not been picked up by the department of education.

These changes are not without attrition, a woman in my office has lost her job as a result of the BBB and while she is excellent to work with she only works 4 days a week and was already retired from another state job where she was fully vested in her pension. Her position in the office was redundant as there was already another woman in the office doing the same work.

I will miss her in the office but she was given notice on July 7th that her position will be eliminated on the last day of September and ever since the notice has been watching TV on her computer and engaging in hours of conversation daily with reception because the university said they would not be monitoring her work until the exit date, so she's burning out her sick leave and will be paid in full for her paid time off that has accumulated.

I started to post this in the Lighter Politics Humor forum but then I thought, this is funny but also political bullshit!

This YouTube video is darn funny,

My charming wife wears American Eagle jeans. Many times I've waited in my truck while she spent an hour in an AE store picking out her perfect fitting jeans.

Because of this cancel culture stupidity, I have a notion to drive my wife and two step daughters an hour to the nearest American Eagle store. Then treat them all to a couple pairs each of this truely American icon, blue jeans!!!

It is no wonder American Eagle stock rose 18% in only two weeks!

This all smacks of a desperation

I hope not

I hope it doesn’t represent the monkey on the US’s back

You guys represent the last line of defence

My adopted country has already run up the white, Russian and CCP flags in that order

Together with the yellow one - that doesn’t so much represent the quarantine flag - more that of the coward

Mostly stuff that had just trickled out on Navweaps and industry news and the like, but if you have the team you do they should have tangential awareness - it's popped up enough over the years and I don't think it's particularly contentious at this point. Last one I think related to an SSBN was a Swede boat that I can recall.

They have no tangential awareness.. and no one seems to have any actual reference to anything close to anything you are claiming.. I believe you are misinformed.. or completely mis understood whatever it is you looked at...

The swede boat incident has already been referenced here by myself and others.. that involved a carrier, not an SSBN..

There is no record of an Ohio Class sub being intercepted by NATO vessels in training exercises or otherwise.. not in industry news.. not in official military records (non classified), not in title 10 level wargames records (non classified), etc.. I've even taken the time to scour the Navweaps website you reference.. there is nothing there remotely related to what you state has happened..
