Helicopter Aoudad hunting in Tx

With only a cursory understanding of the Big Horn/Auodad situation in TX I don’t really know enough to form a strong opinion. In general, though, I find it really troubling how often exotics or wildlife farming for profit take precedence over native wildlife when there is conflict. As hunters, conservation of native species should be at the core of our ethic.

The problem lies in that Texas had 1500 Bighorn and is now down to 500. Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae (M. ovi) the Aoudad are carriers and it kills Bighorns.

At one time private landowner permits were available for the Bighorns. The folks that want Bighorn want the Aoudad gone and the ones selling Aoudad hunts don't.

Have some spare dollars or time?

I not sure yes if the animals are still there maybe.
But reintroduced I not sure on.
If tx was fine with the auodad when the state could make money on them no want them gone because of a reintroduced spices.

They let the ranch’s spend there money for a product. That it seems the state was ok with.

Nope don’t see it.
Same reason I don’t want a lot of panthers or bear or black / red wolfs.
The old guys got the place safe for livestock.
That’s what it’s been for 100 years or better.
