After months of drooling over over everyone’s double rifles on here I started shopping online and getting a little more serious. I’ve been hunting for a good used double but just never could find the courage to pull the trigger on buying a used one.

My local gun shop that I do a lot of business with is a large Benelli dealer, so I decided to inquire about a Chapuis because I liked the idea of getting it from a local dealer that has always taken care of me.

They got in touch with their Benelli rep….lo and behold they had a Chapuis Elan in 470 NE that could be shipped this week. My dealer offered it to me for $15,000. Benelli also informed them the prices were increasing at the end of July. I decided to place the order!

I got some photos from them on the rifle and I am very impressed with the wood especially for the price.

I’m super excited to have this for my next safari in July 2026. Unfortunately I leave for this year’s Safari in 10 days so it’s going to have to sit this trip out.

Does anyone know what factory loads these are regulated for? I’m a hand loader but I feel like I want to get comfortable with the gun before hand loading.

Congratulations to you, I hope you have many wonderful adventures with her!

Very Nice! :D Beers:

Very nice. Congratulations. Looks like quite a beauty!

Well done. Lots to like on that rifle.

Congratulations! I have owned several Chapuis over the years and all of them have been reliable shooters. It well serve you well next year!

I picked up mine two weeks ago from a fellow forum member @Mtn_Infantry. The info, expertise and guidance he’s lent me has been so valuable. The resources and assistance available to forum members here alone on these pieces simply cannot be overstated.

I had a chance on K-gun that was on an estate auction at the same time. I’m glad I bought the Chapuis.

My dream is to take my Dakota76 .416 Rigby and my .470 Chapuis and hunt Caprivi for 7-10 days, move over to leopard camp and hunt a cat for 11-14 days. Now, I just need to get to Namibia in three weeks and get the contract signed with my PH for a Buffalo/Sable hunt in Caprivi for’26 if he can fit all this very large ask in to his schedule.

All because of I bought a .470 NE :)

Congrats on your new rig.

Well done Ndc! Any plans to ccime to Africa?
I’m actually headed out to Africa in 6 days, but I won’t be brining the double quite yet, because I’m still waiting for it to arrive at my local gun shop so I will just be bringing my 375 bolt gun.

I’m booked to return to Africa next July and the 470 NE will see it’s debut on that trip.

Very nice looking double!

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
