What's the most Mambas you have seen on a safari?

They got kind of pulverized the same as rattlers do when I lived in Las Cruces. Not enough to be worth my while.

I have seen quite a few, but I think the most on one 10 day safari was about 6. I have had them in the blind, come in the blind thru the window, at the waterhole, in the tree while on stand, just outside in the road, and on the ground while stalking. We also found a dead giraffe once at the base of a tree, and believe we could see one up in the tree top, but didnt stay around to be sure.

Yes one year I believe we saw 5 or 6 total. actually saw 2 at once that year to.

Saw 1 mamba in Limpopo on a 2 track, May 2022. It was probably 9' long crossing the road.

I just finished 10 days of chasing buffalo in very thick bush, on Hammond in the Savé Valley Conservancy. Saw exactly one snake, but up close. We were sneaking into a herd of buffalo and I was following Alan Vincent. He was about to duck under some limbs on a bush but suddenly took a quick step backward and pulled out his iPhone to video the bush. I whispered (we were less than 50 yards from buffalo at the time) to ask what he was videoing. He whispered back “Vine Snake”. Sure enough, it was almost but not quite a perfect match for the branch it was laying upon. About 2 feet long, which is fairly large for a vine snake. Alan walked around the other side of the bush and I followed, but not before taking a quick photo as it started to depart.

Vine snakes are highly venomous, but they have back fangs, not out front and they’re not aggressive unless threatened. But, if you get bit you should promptly make sure your loved ones know you love them, as you’re likely to die.

Zero mambas. But I was standing next to an unmarked "empty" cage in Zambia when I suddenly realized it had a snake in it. I'm really glad I didn't walk up on this guy in the wild:

Gaboons are flat-out one of the most beautiful snakes in the world in my opinion. I have NO WANT to come across any mambas or boomslangs, or puff adders, but would enjoy a seeing a big gaboon in its natural habitat. Just not accompanied by those two giant fangs in me!

I not going to lie. My trips to africa in winter. I looked under the bed each night and shook the covers before I got in the bed. Even tried to not have to wake up to go to the bathroom if I could help it. lol.
I have run ins each year with rattlesnakes and cottonmouths and kill many but those africa snakes scare me.

I took my son and his wife on safari, She was petrified of all snakes . I assured her we would be lucky to see one but it turned out it seemed we saw one or two bad ones daily. Her screams cost me some fine trophy’s. I finally told her she had to stop knocking me down as I was the one that was armed. We had great time

Two trips to Namibia in May both times.
Two trips to RSA, September and January.
I have seen a spitting cobra and a puff adder in Namibia on the place I hunted. And a couple other vipers in Etosha NP. But not a mamba to speak about, which suits me just fine.

I don’t kill snakes, venomous or non-venomous, except when it’s a venomous snake around camp, around my house, on the trails where I regularly walk my dog or acting aggressive/threatening.

Generally, when I see a venomous snake while out hunting or fishing, I leave it alone. That includes puffers, cobras and mambas. I just steer clear and leave them in peace.

Generally, when I see a venomous snake while out hunting or fishing, I leave it alone. That includes puffers, cobras and mambas. I just steer clear and leave them in peace.

I didn't kill that mamba and it was in camp. I heard a shotgun go off and walked over to see what the commotion was about and the trackers had killed one.
