New Sako 100's just touched down - This one is a 6.5 CM

EuroOptic listing - Sako 100 Explorer

What are all the things on the stock?.....overall unfortunately not my cup of tea....
Adjustable comb, The button on the sides allows the comb to raise and lower
Its an interesting rifle, Looks and feels like an attempt at a cost effective Blaser replacement.

OK thanks....as can't stand the full cream version , I as I said ain't going for the skimmed version ;) :D Beers:

1. What is the cost of the rifle?
2. What are the caliber options?
3. What is the cost of additional barrels and compnents?

It’s once again time for my daily “old guy rant.” So, I’m sorry in advance for my grumpiness.

Have the engineering departments of all the mainstream gun companies lost their ability to design attractive firearms? Sako obviously cared enough about looks to offer the 100 with nice walnut. Then they botched it with plastic push buttons, an adjustable comb and what appears to be a concave bottom filled with more plastic!

Will the 100 appeal to enough younger shooters who like such geegaws? Not likely. Too much wood and too expensive. Will they appeal to traditionalists because of the nice wood? Not likely.

List price is 4799.99
308, 3006, 6.5 cm, 375 H&H as of now
Barrels are list priced at 999.99

There is wiggle room for my AH discount on the rifle and barrels.
The presence of plastic is annoying, But it is covered with a soft leathery type material - Really does not feel bad in the hand. Action is quick and slick, Overall rifle is a little long for my taste but not terrible.

cover the comb and button and bottom of the stock in a nice leather and it would look pretty good. I’ve done it with other rifles and it’s pretty sharp

I think its a worthwhile attempt at blending traditional aesthetic to modern aesthetic/utility - it could do well and also begin to bring a youger crowd closer toward traditional rifle designs?

I wonder about shooting 375 with that stock. Certainly some strength is compromised with the adjustable comb concept. I presume the comb piece that moves is one piece pushed up through the bottom of the stock? Stock wrist is VERY thin. It looks lightweight?

I wonder if it’s built like the S-20, which has a chassis system in it.

I’m not going to knock anything till I try it, but it’s definitely not my style
And it’s just to expensive for what else I could get with that price point

Bottom of butt-stock reminds me of the synthetic Ruger "boat-paddle" style. Adjustable comb is a daring addition that just might be practical for all scope configurations. Function--waiting for a report.

I weighed it when I had it out, touch over 8lbs in that configuration.. Comb is detent retained, two holes drilled thru the top of the stock w/ a spring under the posts.
Does not feel weak to me, Def designed for a younger crowd going from carbon barrels and precision oriented to wood & blued steel.

It appears now they have found a new way to make even gorgeous wood look hideous. No thank you. Not to mention even Sako has stooped to the 6.5 man bun. Is nothing sacred in the pursuit of the almighty dollar!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
