The above ammunition is still for sale (at very reasonable prices).

Due to Canada’s high cost of Hazardous Material shipping permits to Alaska, I cannot afford this otherwise great price.
I spoke with Hntnhrd via cell phone yesterday.
He is a real gentleman and I hope to meet up with him in person some day.

All of the ammunition he has listed is priced right.
Also, here in Alaska where I live, to my knowledge there hasn’t been any .257 Roberts ammunition available for a mighty long time.
I suspect similar status in most all locations.
And, the above Winchester 117 gr +P, is some of the best ever produced for this classic caliber.
The .444 Marlin cartridge is mildly popular here where I live, yet ammunition likewise is presently impossible to find here.

The 7MM Magnum with 175 gr excellent Power Point bullet is also near impossible to find any more.
If a person wanted to bring their 7MM Magnum rifle to the wide open parts of Namibia and similar habitat of South Africa (Eastern Cape, The Karoo, etc.), this ammunition would be about perfect for longer shots at Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest and so forth.
Meanwhile, the local predator hunters here in Alaska commonly use the .243 for fox, coyote and wolf calling.
Personally, I don’t favor it for deer hunting.
But for predator shooting, it is one of the very best, IMO.
I once owned a Pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight Winchester, in .243 that I hunted ground squirrels, jack rabbits and coyotes with, in California and Nevada, back when girls were girls and men were men.

Thank God he let us learn to reload. That way we can load hard to get calibres.
444 marlin ammo in Australia last I looked a few years ago was $99 AUD/ 20. Even when I had mine before I sold it to build my Whelen it was $86/20. Fortunately I NEVER bought a factory round for it as it was far cheaper to handloads.
The brass was $99/100, Woodleigh 280gn RNSP $66/50 or Hornady 265gn FTX $70/100.
Those prices made it far more economical.
The 257 Roberts is an absolute gem almost the ideal cartridge for most hunting but unfortunately even the +P loads aren't as good as a decent handloads. The price of them is well worth it for the brass alone.
We won't mention what I think of the 243. I think everyone knows by now.
