This weekend I was able to do some load development for my Ralph Bone custom Mauser 8mm Rem Mag.

I acquired this rifle a few years back, but living overseas until recently I never had the time to shoot it until now. I started with our 180gr SS bullet and H4831SC. Was able to get them up to 3200 fps, but found a very nice accuracy node just shy of 3100 fps. Last 3 shots shown include 1 shot, followed by a final windage adjustment, then 2 shots (there was a little right to left crosswind). I figure would be about a half inch group @ 100 yds.

Not bad for a 40 something year old rifle and a classic fixed 6x Leupold! Load dev ended up being all of 9 shots. Will try to shoot a hog full frontal and dig the bullet out when I get the chance.

I have a few boxes on the bench that ill load up when i have some time. Planning on shooting them out of my 8x57 at 2700-2750 fps. Should make good moose medicine.

Should be great moose medicine indeed. I'm also going to work up a load for our 200gr all copper CPX and compare the 2 on pigs.

Got a chance on whitetail yesterday evening....quartering-to shot at about 150 yds on the leading shoulder that zipped right through. The big 8 really hammers them hard.

Obviously no bullet recovery, but a DRT buck and produced a nice exit hole!

Great info on Northforks & a very nice buck. Great bullet performance as well.

Wildcatter82 I have been considering a 325 WSM build (since I've got an Accurate Innovations stock for a Win 70 short action). Was doing some research on the Northfork 200 & 220gr B.C & found info from NF listing B.C. of 0.417 & 0.473 respectively. The numbers seem a bit high. Can you confirm? I know the Swift A-Frames have somewhat of a lower B.C.

Thank you.

Loved my 8mm rem mag - Rem 700 custom shop - sold it when I got the 404J -

Regrets I have a few !

I know this post is a bit dated and I'm late to the thread, but what brass are you using for this load?

Thank you for the comments. The listed BCs are indeed correct. Our .323" SS offerings all have a protected tip, and thus a more sleek profile as compared to say the .308" SS bullets.

Here is a .323" 220gr SS for reference:

As you can see, a much different profile than an A-Frame.

Good luck with the build! Big 8's do not disappoint.

I am using Nosler brass for this load.

As I understand it, the Nosler brass is actually made by Norma and just stamped Nosler. That should work well. I asked as the 3 shot group you put in the original post looks familiar from when I first worked with North Fork bullets. I'd get two or three very close and then something of a quasi-flyer. Once I moved from Remington brass to Norma or Lapua those flyers went away.

Thanks so much for responding. I bet the 8 Rem Mag will zip those 220gr SS bullets out around 2950 to 3000 fps.

Any suggestions on powder selection for 325 WSM?

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!
