While the hunt isn’t always difficult, the mount can be quite impressive. I just finished this one up from an Oct hunt on our South Texas ranch.

Javelina are very interesting...highly social creatures. Nice mount.

I hunt them in Arizona where they are considered big game, so all regulation that apply to deer, elk, sheep, and other big game apply. So no feeders and fair chase only. I also use a pistol, granted it is a Thompson Center Contender in 7-30 Waters I have also taken them with a 44 mag, 41 mag, 357 mag, and a 40 S&W.

We find them quite challenging at times, if they wind or spot you you'll be in for a long hike trying to get back onto the herd. We do mostly spot and stalk. We know canyons that they like and a lot about their habits when the weather is bad or windy. After 30 years we still find it fun and enjoyable.

Nice looking mount and congratulations on it.

Yeah mess with one and the whole pack will come for you. Those teeth snapping at night can be very eerie!! They can mess up a pack of hog dogs quickly.
Unlike hogs, where the whole pack will scatter, all for themselves :ROFLMAO:

Beautiful mount!

Great mount, out of all of the smaller stuff I have in my trophy room I like the Javalina the most. Your taxidermy is exceptional.

Spectacular job. I did’t think they were that northeast.

Thanks for the nice words

They run along the river. I’ve heard of a few as far north as Goliad/Victoria area. I also think they have a few in north Texas areas.

I took one back in the ‘80’s with a .44 mag handgun. I had a full mount made. It looked cool. Unfortunately I lost that and others mounts as well as several guns due to a bad situation. Long story.

I see them regularly in Archer and Baylor counties. Unfortunately, none on our lease in Baylor county. The game wardens say there is a big group around the lake here in Wichita Falls.

Safe hunting.

I thought I saw a roadkill on 287 heading out of Wichita Falls headed towards Amarillo one day. That clears up a question I’ve had for years.

I drive 277 SW heading to Seymour where we have our lease. I see them on the Waggoner Ranch close to the road regularly. From what I understand it is the largest ranch in Texas under one fence.

Safe hunting

Beautiful mount! They are common in Sourhern Arizona where I grew up and while not particularly aggressive if you get one cornered or wounded they will charge! Javalina are not to be messed with in CQ, ask many Coyotes and Wolves that lol

It’s funny that this thread popped up because my old Tucson friends and I have what we call the “Javalina Big Bore Safari” that we hold as of then as possible. We all get together for a Javalina hunt and just have the funnest hunts with no pressure just fun! One prerequisite!!! They must be hunted with a Big Bore!
We’ve had everything form 375 Winchesters to 458 WinMags lol So fun!

Had a bunch of them bust out of the brush and run under a colt I was riding when I was a kid.
It was interesting. I can’t stand the meat but the wets like it. I give it to them.

I had no problem with the meat, heavily marinated and then grilled.

The problem with the meat is that people don't take care of it properly. You need to get the hide off and the meat cooled off. Don't try to mess with the scent gland either, it will come off with the hide.

In hunting them for 30 years and shooting over 25 of them we have only had a single one that wasn't worth eating and it had sat in the sun for a while before we found it.

I don't marinate it, I'll just smoke it over mesquite wood. A friend will just fry it up with peppers and onions.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
