I'm always looking to add a new caliber, new rifle to the collection. I currently own firearms in the following, which obvious gaps do you see? Recommended additions?

1. 22 LR
2. 223/ 5.56
3. 9mm
4. 38 spl/ 357 Mag
5. 7.62X39
6. 6.5X55
7. 6.8 Western
8. 308 / 7.62 x 51
9. 30-06
10. 338 WinMag
11. 375HH
12. 416 Rigby
13. 45-70
14 .458 WinMag
15. 470 NE
16. 12g

.358WIN and .35 WAI - because I have never spoken to a guy that likes .338WINMAG recoil. Besides, my .358WIN ar-10 just slays deer!

Do don't really have a gap, but it's really nice to create one!

I suggest .45 ACP

Great line up, showing the flaws in my line up though.

I don’t see any variety of 7mm here. I seem to have a thing for 7mm cartridges.

7mm/08, 7x64 and .280ai are three I own and quite like.

I’m gonna say maybe a 7mm-08 in line after your 7.62x39 and then a hot 7mm on the other end. But 7prc would be good and not too hot to run.

you need a quarter bore like 257 Roberts , 25-06, 257 Weatherby
also missing a nice mid bore like 35 Whelen.
And a glaring omission is a sub gauge shotgun. One should actually have a .410, 28 and and 20 ga.

I was about to say the same thing. I don't see a 25 or 35 in there, either. @Bob Nelson 35Whelen will be along shortly to take OP to task on those 2.

Of course I don't have either one of those my own self, so there's that.

Need a smokeless muzzleloader in there somewhere, .45.

I debated all of the 7's when I was shopping around and finally decided on my 6.8 Western as my "7mm".

It fills a similar role to 7PRC or 7 RemMag while in a short action with a bit less recoil. I find it has started to replace my need for my 30s as well, not reaching for the 308 or 30.06 any longer.

I think If I end up adding a true 7mm it will be the classic 7X57 Mauser.

The quarter bores are something I know very little about. Do you use them for deer sized game? Varmints?

Right now my 22lr is my small game cartridge, 223 and 6.5x55 for coyotes and any big game I'm grabbing the 6.8 or larger.

Currently own levers in both 357 and 45-70. I considered filling in the middle with either a 44mag or 30-30 but they both seem to fall short to my current duo.

38/357 is much cheaper for more affordable plinking, 45-70 is better suited to actual big game hunting. I still do want a 3rd lever gun in the safe though.

No gaps. You can have a peace of mind!

I see a 12, but that is a pretty deficient gamebird list.

However, you could get rid of half the rifle calibers and still have every situation well covered.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
