Absolutely do not tell him!! Go pick out your own rifle, just make sure it is WAY nicer than his. Then pull it out of the case at the range casually. When he asks when and where you got it, say oh I’ve had it for months, I told you about it when I picked it up, don’t you remember?

A couple week notice would be appreciated if possible however, if you would like to visit rather sooner, that will not be an issue and will arrange with either myself or one of my colleagues to welcome you to our premises.

We would be delighted to host you for a day at our range and with our rifles. There would be no charge for this service.
