Trijicon RMR for a double - what size dot?

sounds good, I like the leupold's
you'll have to stick up a couple of pics once you get all the bits fitted.
cheers

You'll like the smaller. I have both a Doc optic and a Burris fastfire III on my doubles. Both makers have advantages/disadvantages I like. Stay with a 4 or less for size as you will find that the larger dots really start obscuring targets as the distances increase.

Thanks hunteratheart. That's what I have done!
Will let you know how it goes!

The package has arrived and is even cooler than initially expected.

The little mount ordered for the 14mm-16mm rail looks brilliant aswell. Going to try fit it this weekend!

will keep you posted!

Fitted!

Ok, the RMR arrived and I fitted it this afternoon. The base I ordered is spot on and the unit dropped straight onto the rail and clipped into place.

It fits great, although it is close to the end of the barrels. What's the downside to the sight being so close to the end of the barrel.

Can't get pics posted.........

Close

Spiket, it's right at the end of the barrel, cause that's where the rail is. Very close to the barrel end. There is no front rail, cause the front mount is the QD hole.

Seems ok and give a good picture, but wondering about reloading issues etc?

Guys, went out and sighted the RMR in!

Impressed!

Got some help from a great guy who let me come shoot on his farm on the Kafue River outside Kitwe. Took a few shots to pull it in, but now shooting about an inch off a 1 inch bullseye. Barrels printing about 1 inch apart. Set it up at about 50m.

And it's probably even better off the sticks than off the bench! So I must say, the ease of sight picture for my eyes and accuracy we achieved has validated the purchase!

Feeling a lot more confident!

so as you were going to take it easy and didnt want to use up too many, how many rounds did you fire in the end ? :D

Only fired 8x .470NE

But I couldn't go out and only fire 8 rounds so swopped on the 9.3x74R barrels and fired about 10 rounds with that!

It was great to burn some powder! Need another one or two sessions before August!
Maybe burn some when you come out?

i use the srs1 trijicon on my 9.3x74r.only 1 3/4 inch dot.red, with brightness option.great site picture up close, and allows for more precise shot placement farther away.at 75 ,open sights are not an option for me.j.m.o.

That's awesome Jumbo!!!

So glad it worked out so well. One day!!! :)

Hello Jumbo.
I send you pm with question about rmr mount/base.
Any chances for close up picture of the rmr mount on the barrels?

AND TO JUMBO:: Glade to hear you will have to keep me updated on how it does as I will be doing the same. Are you going with the dual illumination model auto brightness or single I would like to know

Fortunately, the single source LED powered model also provides auto-brightness adjustment, though electronically. I use that model on one gun (I'm mainly an HWS user) and offer only one caution about it: If shooting at night care must be taken to get the illumination of the dot back down to a night level if the RMR LED has been hit by a bright light very recently. This can be done manually. The problem can arise in the opposite direction: If hunting with a flashlight (where legal) the flashlight may not be bright enough to cause the red dot to brighten enough to power through the flashlight, making the dot visible. This can can also be handled manually: the point is to remember to do it, and gain skill with the manipulation needed. In any daylight the RMR LED works great for me. I only use my RMR on a handgun, so it took quite some time until I could reliably "find the dot" as I raised the revolver to fire. I got over it in time with practice. Finding the dot is MUCH less of an art when the thing is mounted on a rifle which the shooter reliably mounts to the same position at speed.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
