This is a bit brief, and more of a quick report than a review, but I wanted to express what an outstanding hunt I had in Namibia with L'wyk van Vuuren. The hunting was superb, and the knowledge of L'wyk regarding the game and animals added to the quality. Most of the time was spent on his very large family ranch in northwest Namibia. There was plentiful game, including leopards, and cheetah. My hunt was for plains game, and I harvested everything I went for, including eland, kudu, gemsbok, black wildebeast, red hartebeast, sable, lechwe, and springbok.
Adding to the quality of the hunt was the graciousness of L'wyk and his wife Julene. She is a superb cook as well as host, and the food quality was outstanding. Most of the dishes were prepared from the game we harvested. If there is one drawback to the hunt, it is that the food is so good, it is hard not to leave having gained a few pounds, despite all the hunting! The van Vuurens have an active ranching operation, and for me this just added to the experience. To see how the cattle, sheep, and goats survive in those harsh conditions, and what it takes to raise them with all the predators around was an education in itself. The staff was friendly and very competent. From the outset, I felt like part of the family, rather than just a client. In fact, getting to know the family, (including L'wyk's hardy and friendly mother) was very special. The operation has very comfortable accomodations at the main headquarters.
Along with the hunting at the main ranch, L'wyk hunts also in the far northwest in massive concessions, as well as in the famous Caprivi Strip of northeast Namibia. One of the aspects of hunting with @Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris, is that you will be hunting with L'wyk himself. His determination to find exceptional animals and make the hunt a success will be obvious from the outset. In addition, he and Julene were very helpful from the outset of booking the hunt, to make sure everything went smoothly in getting to Namibia, and back. I couldn't have hoped for a better experince, and am looking forward to another hunt with him in 2025 in the Caprivi.

Good gosh man, send us some horn porn (pictures)!

Yes, we absolutely need some photos!

Also, something to consider when writing a report on AH. Place a really good photo in your first post. Since there is no photo in your first post, your report will have the generic AH logo for the report. A lot of people don't know about this. You can probably ask the moderator to edit your first post an place a photo in it.

An example of of what I'm talking about:

This is excellent advice! I did not know this! I will keep it in mind!

A few more pictures. The last picture above is sideways in the attachment, but does come our upright when you click on it. I felt it shows just how big the Eland is when hanging from the hoist. We would get the game back to the headquarters after harvesting the animal, and immediately get it skinned, and then cut up. It is amazing just how good and tender the harvested game was to eat.

Just seeing those pictures again sure stimulates so many very special memories of the time in Namibia and the hunt. That is L'wyk van Vuuren with me in the pictures where you see the PH. The last picture above is when we went to Etosha National Park. It also is sideways until you click on it, and then the picture is in the correct orientation. That picture is an elephant hoist, in case you hadn't figured it out. At one time elephants were processed there, and the meat canned and shipped out across southern Africa. I've got many other pics, not just of the hunt, but the ranch and family. As I mentioned, the hunt was special, but the time there was so much more than just a hunt.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
