Heckuva good guess! But no..... I'm laughing because there is a backstory about a power pole in middle of the road not far from his location

Not chronograph, but indeed for ship captain. Very good guess, and commendable attention to detail although not correct.
I will let other members to have a chance, then will clarify.

Ha! That's what my GPS told me once when I got lost in the fog while elk hunting. It was showing the exact opposite direction back to camp. Thank God for my quarter sized Chinese made compass I had in my emergency kit. LOL

They have electricity in most of the non-rural areas but believe me service is hit or miss much of the time. Typhoons occasionally wreak havoc in the northern 2/3 of the country. Major random, cluster earthquakes take a heavy toll on the infrastructure on a regular basis. While driving around, it's common to see a length of extension cord or scrap romex stretched across the highway with a bamboo pole holding up the wire on each side... usually a residence built right up to the shoulder on one side and a small sari sari store on the other. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Item 1 is buckle for belt, made for me by Filipino fitter (mecahnic) on a vessel.
It symbolizes modern ship. It is comprised of: propeller and engine piston (which makes ship to propel itself) steering wheel (which enables navigation), and anchor (which always symbolizes safety). On the back side is pin, to lock inside belt holes. Visible on second photo

Item 2.
Not chronograph, not barometer. Do we have some other suggestions?
