@IvW… “Happy Feet!” …. Looks like too much gun. Might consider some kind of recoil mitigation- maybe an in-stock reducer? Need to be able to keep your feet planted, cycle bolt and fire at least one more shot without all that moving around.

Sakos are too light for caliber.....
500 Jeff not for all....it is a very specialized caliber but devestatingly effective on the largest elephant in the tightest situations.....
If you can manage to get the Tango sorted out that is.....

I know nothing of shooting a 500J, but I do know the Sako butt stocks. They are way too narrow (side to side) and short (top to bottom) to give the proper amount of area to spread the recoil over the shoulder. Always felt like a knife blade digging into my shoulder. With a caliber this large and rifle weight so low, something has gotta give. Right now it's your shoulder aching and recovery time from shot to shot. Small adjustments to the butt stock shape and rifle weight should have you sorted out in no time. I wouldn't do anything permanent until you are satisfied with your results.

They certainly are!. "I know someone here already covered Sako's 500 J, & what they did to offset these issues". I'll go back & read the OP. It literally looks like an Exon Oil Pipe bolted to a sliver of Laminate. Addl: post cleaning the bore, I noticed slight marring in dependent areas?

Surprised it can withstand 7000 ft/lbs.

Someone asked if I had Extraction issue .. (I just wonder how loose the rim of the cartridge is under the extractor. Will your extractor hold the round tight against the bolt face, or does it have play? Mine is failing to eject the cartridges, instead dropping them back into the magazine). So I made a video of Horizontal/Lateral Movement.

Mine ejects good, but I never checked a shell for movement. I assume mine is similar to yours, I will get it out tomorrow and check it.

I have 85, in 3006.
Heard of problems with ejection, but i never had such issue.
Because of position of rear sight, i had to put medium height mounts for 56 mm scope. This may give some extra space for ejection.
But, as said, never had an issue.

Interesting. When changing the extractor during the build of my 404 Jeffery on a standard Mauser 98, I followed the instructions in Duane Weibe's book: remove enough of the claw so that a loaded cartridge will just stay suspended on the bolt face when bolt is removed. I was having trouble with snap over and almost removed too much from the claw (seems the problem was mostly with brass not the extractor). Loaded cartridges are not thrown very vigorously during ejection. But they are heavy objects - empty cases fly out with plenty of gusto. Having loaded cartridges fall at my feet rather than in the next zip code is hardly a handicap. My extractor clearly had too much tension as I had to pry it off with a screwdriver when it should have been removable with finger pressure. I reshaped the extractor and removed some of the tension. That did affect the oomph of ejection (especially loaded ammo) but also improved feeding cartridges from the magazine and snap over on shells dropped in the chamber.

Anyway, I'm not familiar with the extractor on a Sako but wondering if it would be possible to perform the Weibe test for extractor tension. Perhaps tension could be adjusted to change the angle shells are ejected?

Really beautiful gun but 500 Jeffery is not my cup of tea. I'm sure you'll find someone with an orthopedic surgeon in the family who will take it off your hands.
