I'm looking for a free range cow elk hunt for December 2023 to fill the freezer.
Does anybody have a lead or reference?
It can be DIY or guided as long as tags are over the counter.
Thanks

What state/ area do you prefer to hunt in?

Might be tough to get this late in the year.? You would have to check the websites of the states that offer non-resident OTC cow elk, or leftover tag opportunities . Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington. Some are on a quota.
Colorado has OTC for cow Elk during archery season, but you can buy a bull OTC for rifle. Landowner tags may be available for sale.?

Cow tags are tough to come by anymore. The vast majority of the tags get allotted during the draws except for the private land hunts, and those can go for a premium. There are usually land owner tags here in Colorado but it's cheaper to purchase half a beef.

Archery OTC tags is the best way to go, however you need to pay attention to the unit that you are hunting in that a lot are changing over to bull only, even during archery season here in Colorado.

Late hunts in December are a premium tag and they don't last long on left over list.

A lot will depend on what unit in CO you want to hunt in terms of what’s available OTC vs draw…

But if you’re open to hunting “anywhere”… getting a bull or cow tag in CO is relatively easy..

I sent you a pm with some info, hope it gives you a place to start

True. Ive hunted up there multiple times. Some of those public land hunts can be a circus.
Best hunt I ever had was a private property drop camp type hunt off the Grand Mesa. No crowds.

Seems like I've seen a ad from Mark Young advertising a cow elk hunt in MT. Private ranch type of hunt. Might give him a call.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!
