AH Get Together In Vegas During Safari Club International (SCI) Convention 2014

Not sure yet what we will do this year for the AH Get Together at the 2014 SCI Convention but wanted to let everyone know that we will do something, perhaps a happy hour like we did last year, late afternoon/early evening (not to conflict with the evening events that some people may want to attend) on Friday February 7, 2014. Please set aside that time!

Right now i plan on attending. Provided i do not get receive a letter i am on call for jury duty again. Seams to be the case the past 2 years.

You get to fill out an online forum. There is no phone number for contact other that to see if you qualify for jury duty.

Messages can be left, (and i have with no return call to me) and you never know if any one is taking the messages. You have to drive to the court house and go through security and then you find a person to talk to about missing a few days for your 2 month assignment.

A call or on line look up has to be performed after 4PM for the next day. Or you can look this up on line and the information is not posted until 4PM for you to check.

This past year (August-September) i asked to be off from the 21st of august through September 6 while we went to Scotland. I needed to go to the court house to let them know i would be out of the country. That was twice this year i was on jury duty. plus this and last year i was also on for January & February.

I do not mind being called is just a inconvenience at times when you want to be away for a weekend.

might try and make this convention, never been to Vegas and we normally go away somewhere around this time of the year, might be an adventure and having all this stuff going on will give us something to do

well we talked to the wife's cousin who has been to Vegas a few times, and within an hour she had us a room booked so looks like Vegas here we come

have an issue and while I know the show would be a great experience I am also trying to pinch my pennies
We are going to Vegas during the show, I am not a member of SCI (yet) so now the question is do spend money this week on the membership and then the show. My wife has no interest in going to the show so I wont get to share the experience with anyone. While its not a huge cost, it is Christmas time, 2 kids in college and saving to put the deposit on a hunt for 2015 in Africa, it all adds up.
Glad that the kids will be out of college for 2015 or my African trip would have to wait a year.

I am pretty sure I have my outfitter picked so window shopping for one isn't a huge concern

It does indeed add up! However since you will already be in Vegas during the convention I would definitely recommend getting in for at least one day, you will enjoy it!

In regards to AH Get Together there is no cost involved. You do not need to be an SCI member to come and since it will be in the evening outside of the convention hall there is no entrance fee either Last year many wives came and enjoyed themselves so don't hesitate to bring your wife along Looking forward to seeing you there!
