Had a great trip with Mario! Flew to Johannesburg and spent a night at Africa Sky and used their gun import service and was money well spent! Went with two friends and they did most of the killing! My main quarry was an old wide buffalo. No classic drop, but an awesome hunt.

I also was urged to kill a monster impala. I need to look back at the scoresheet but he was in the SCI gold category. I believe, from jet-lagged memory, that he scored 63 2/8. A solid red lechwe was also killed.

Buffalo was just under 46” and is an awesome bull in my book. I know many here prefer the deep drop/curl, but I wanted wide this time.

Mario was great and showed us some beautiful country and great animals over several ranches/concessions. By far the best PH I have had in numerous trips. He is very knowledgeable and was a wizard getting me on the buffalo.

We stayed at the Chargo Boutique Lodge near Colesberg for four or five nights and a five star rating would not do the place justice. Charles and Megan were great and the property was phenomenal.

I’m not much for hunt recaps, but rest assured, I am tired of walking and cringe every time I think about climbing another rock choked mountain. Other than that, all memories are fond! Great hunt all around!

Yes sir. Thank you. There is something to be said about tent camps etc., but everywhere we stayed was top notch. The older I get, the less motivated I am to regale friends upon return how I roughed it.

Nice. Lechwe on the books in May for me, hoping for a great one like yours.

Well done congratulations.

Some very nice animals. Sounds like you had a proper stalking hunt for Buffalo. Congratulations.

Very good impala, well done. What sort of distance did you shoot him at?

Oh, believe me. It was more proper than I desired. :). We were all beat down by the time we got him killed!

Congrats for a great hunt, and thanks for sharing !

Thanks again for your support on the Rhodesian Shotgun thread. From the amount of "LIKES" it received, it appears there was only ONE person who objected. Hes also the same one who continually insisted on interjecting his posts that werent relevant to the thread.
