Well I just couldn't resist and with the greenies keeping nibbling at the ankles to completely stop CBL hunts I just decided I had to have another go but this time taking my family along.

So on the 10th of December 2022 we are heading for the long 7 hour drive to @DE KLERK SAFARIS. Me my son and my wife. We are even brining our two small dogs with us to enjoy the Kalahari.
It's going to be hot but challenging and except for lion there is two other plainsgame species we are after.
One is a surprize for my son when in Rome as they say, he has being nagging at me to hunt a springbuck and we will be in springbuck country so will save us an extra trip.

Where I live half an hour north of Joburg in Pretoria its not springbuck country and we have to travel proper 4 hours to get into springbuck areas. But then its not proper Kalahari Springbuck.

Rifles for the trip will be:

458 Lott CZ 550 loaded with Safari Bullet company bullets 500gr at 2200fps
375 H&H K98 Musgrave with Safari Bullet Company 300gr at 2460fps
New 7 x 57 CZ 550 Loaded with Hornady SST 154gr at 2730fps (hope to draw first blood with it.)

I must say the biggest second reason I'm going back to De Klerk Safaris is how they treated me and handled my first hunt in September 2021. I have now the opportunity to show my son and wife Kalahari warmth and hospitality. We will also celebrate my wife's Birthday under the Kalahari night sky with its brilliant views.

Hans, just told me please bring vegetables we will supply the meat !!! :E Happy:

Well next week this time we will be on the road and I will try to keep some posts as we go along.
Of course PH will be Frikkie bunch of you guys know him.

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
