Good day AH community,

We cannot believe the 2023 season is nearly over already - it seemed to fly by in a flash! A huge thank you must be said for the tremendous support from the AH community - you guys were all an absolute pleasure to host. We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying reminiscing about all the wonderful adventures you hopefully embarked on this year. If not then hopefully you are busy planning your next one! We had a wonderful season seeing old clients again and new clients for the first time!

Our Sable hunting is something we are very proud of at Bayly Sippel and something we have put a lot of thought into over the years. We have some truly incredible genetics on our properties, not only in horn length but also in their coloration. Our bulls are typically that classic pitch black coloration upon reaching maturity, and this is something we have focused on through years of management! We also hunt bulls with a focus on age. Sable are a fast growing animal and as a result can be hunted whilst still a bit on the young side. We aim to hunt bulls that are past this younger stage and hopefully with some secondary growth! We hunt large self sustaining herds on our various exclusive properties. Some of which are over 12,000 acres. On one property alone we have a self sustaining population of over 120 animals. It is truly fantastic to drive along and see breeding herds of Sable, lone bulls, bachelor groups and nursery groups.

Our areas range in distance from 2 and a half to 4 hours drive from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg where we will collect you personally before heading off to the hunting area. Our camps/lodges range from 5 star lodges to a beautiful tented camp in the classic old school "Hemingway style".

Our management plans seem to be paying dividends as we were lucky enough in 2022 to hunt 1x Sable over 46 inches, 3x Sable over 45 inches and a bunch of bulls in the 44 and 43 inch zone. in 2023 we hunted 1 bull over 47", 1x bull over 46 and a large amount of bulls between 42" and 45".

Just as an interesting side note the Sable antelope used to be an animal only reserved for royalty and thus it was named a "Royal Antelope". It is however now another one of South Africa's major conservation success stories! Due to years of intensive breeding and population redistribution this once rare species is now becoming more and more accessible to the average hunter.

I will second what @Fatback had to say. I hunted with Dempsey Bayly (Bayly and Sippel) and had awesome hunt. I was able to dart my rhino and complete the tiny ten (Sharpies Grysbok). Demps went above and beyond to get me an opportunity at these two primary animals. Can’t wait to go back.

I hunted with Bayly/Sippel in August and had a great hunt. We saw sable everyday, some really nice ones. A top notch outfit to hunt with.
@Fatback much appreciated!! Was a pleasure hosting you! Fingers crossed for your adventures next year - cant wait for the pics!

Kind regards,
Dempsey Bayly & Michael Sippel

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
