Powder & Primer Deals Today

For those in the DFW area, Scheels in The Clooney appears to have gotten quite a bit of powder in… both H4350 and IMR4350… IMR4064, Varget, and several others were available a few days ago when I was there…

Lots of small rifle, small pistol, large pistol, and shotgun primers available… but no large rifle primers…

And they had a reasonable stock of Barnes bullets available for the first time in a long time… .243, 6.5mm, 7mm, 308, 338 all present…
Glad to hear that. I've been keeping an eye out for you for IMR 4064 whenever I visit there or Cabelas.

Me too lol!

I’m pretty set now… I’m guessing ive got 10lbs of 4064 out there… and just about every piece of brass I own is loaded at the moment… I probably won’t NEED another can of 4064 for several years (I’m sitting on 350+ 308 rounds, 150+ 30-06, 150+ 270, 100+ 375 HH, etc)…

But I sure don’t ever want to find myself where I was about 2.5 years ago… with piles of empty brass stacked all over the reloading bench, plenty of bullets, more than enough primers, and not an ounce of 4064 to be found anywhere I looked…

I still pick up a can or two every time I see it now.. “just in case” lol

Once I get the load work-up's done for a few calibers, my number of empty cases for 243, 25-06, 270, 7x57, 30-06, 308 Norma, and 375 should go way down. Not enough time for it all... :)

When I was shooting competitively, I would burn 8 - 10 pounds of H4350/Varget a month. That was 10 years ago when components were more reasonable. Buying H4350/Varget then was 23-28 per pound, Berger 105s were .32 ea and primers I was buying a case of Federal GMM for 200 - 250 a case of 5k shipped. Of course barrel blanks were 300ish at the time too, those Hot 6mm fry a barrel pretty quickly.

@RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION once again went above and beyond supplying hard to find brass to me and a fellow AH member!

If you need it, they probably have it at a fair price. Plus, free shipping on orders over $200! Nuff said?

Not sure who was looking for it, but Natchez has Varget available. Both 1# and 8# kegs

So does Hodgdon

I was passing through the Bass Pro Shop in Cincinnati, Ohio last evening. They had a fair selection of pistol primers but also Winchester Large Rifle primers. $90 per brick. No Large Rifle Magnum primers though. Nearly hatchery trout stocking season, had to get a couple red/gold Little Cleo's.

For those of you in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, the Scheel's store in The Colony had Remington No. 9 1/2 Large Rifle Magnum primers on the shelf today for $89.99 per 1,000. I've never used them myself, but I suppose they would work for most. I would estimate they had about a dozen of those cases as of about lunchtime today.

I've watched powder supplies of most every type ebb and flow in many of the stores around me in North Texas over the last few years; however the one noticeable exception is that I cannot recall seeing any type of Reloder powders in stock this entire time, particularly the most frequently desired ones like RL15 and 19. Is there something unique about Reloder that makes them so unobtainium?

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
