It is time we go on the offensive, I swore I would never get dragged into the mud by the greenies, but now I have begun to fight back using the truth supported by facts on their sites, as stated above they simply come back with emotions. At least the truth is now in black and white amongst their threads for all to see. The ones that can still decipher the truth will at least find it between the emotions. Letter sent as well. Thanks to all who have provided the information on this thread to better equip us in the fight for conservation.

One Hunters letter:

"Hello,

I have been to Africa twice and will be going again. I have been to the African Hunting Expo in Calgary. It is a top notch organization with very nice down to earth people who are trying to make a living. They are spending a lot of money to hope to pick up some business in this horrible economy of ours. They are family oriented and some of the best folks you could ever meet. You have basically just kicked them in the teeth. They have spent a lot of money and went out of their way to apply for visas to come to our great country and you just cost them a lot of money for nothing. Over what? An online petition? You must be joking.

I need you to know the ramifications of snubbing a very large group of people. We are very upset with your decision to chicken out and cancel an event due to what really amounts to cyber bullying.

I will not, ever, stay at your establishment. I am very good friends with a few different hunting and fishing outfitters in that area. They will not be staying in your hotel either. My extended family will not be staying in your establishment again. I will also do everything in my power to ensure that none of my friends, or their friends will be staying at your establishment either. I will do absolutely everything I can to ensure that you lose as much business as possible. Brace your selves. This isn’t going away.

Just to sum this up for you, my outfitting friends and I likely book around 100 rooms per year. This is likely on the low end but I don’t want to exaggerate numbers.

Do you really think this has been a good decision for business? If someone hasn’t lost their job over this, there is something truly wrong in this world.

I welcome you to reply and try and explain your situation and reasoning.

I look forward to your response,"

THIS THREAD IS THE IMPETUS. I can't make anyone do it.

I have sent emails. No replies and don't look for any. This is a numbers game. 3500 on the petition to the Saskatoon hotel. How many are we generating? Emails from everywhere are good. The real numbers need to come from Saskatchewan or at least Canada. Hopefully the shows promoter with mailing lists, local SCI chapters etc are making a push with this.

The form letter response:

"Good day Mr. Payne,

Please don't think your email have fallen on deaf ears. Unfortunately, I cannot speak on behalf of Atlific Hotels or the Saskatoon Inn.

I will be forwarding your email to our Senior Vice President of Operations, Mr. Philippe Gadbois and will follow up with him personally when he returns to the office tomorrow.

I am so sorry that this decision has caused you and your colleagues to stop supporting the Saskatoon Inn.

Christine"

By the way. Thanks for sending the emails.

The petitioners had people from around North America, if not further.

Why not send a email, no matter where you are from.

I just noticed that the version of my email note that I posted here was not spell checked. The one I sent the Saskatoon Inn was correct, but if anyone wants to use parts of mine to compose their own note, please check spelling.

By the way,
Please share the emails you did send in this thread as they can serve as templates and inspiration.

Also, please share the local forum links where this topic has been posted by hunters.
The more links the higher this climbs on the WWW and perhaps we will reach a larger audience.

From the SWF

"Doug,
Were on it. I am having a conference call with the hotel management today and possibly a face to face tomorrow.
We had our Convention there in 2013 and many meetings there every year so we have some significant possible patronage loss alone.
We will keep you posted.

In my correspondence I have cc'd the local chamber of commerce. Most hotels are part of the chamber. When events are put together the chamber/ or people that work with the chamber have a lot of influence on where people go. Wonder how much business non chamber hotels get? Also how much business chamber hotels get that cancel events?

Sent an email to Saskatoon inns, i am actually heading to Lloyd next week for a few days with the family, so let them know they have lost my business for them few nights on arrival and departure from the airport

Nothing like consequences to make someone sit up and take notice.

I think they are getting the same message from a larger hunters federation client as well.

Thanks

Here is my letter:
To Whom it may concern,

Very disappointed with your decision to cancel the Africa Hunting Event. Decisions based on emotion, rather then science, are seldom the best choice when running a business. You could have used this as an opportunity to show how sustainable hunting is a huge benefit to conservation in Africa. Instead you caved to emotional animal rights hysteria.

As Chair of several organizations, I will encourage people to avoid booking at the Saskatoon Inn.

Thanks. Keep them going.

Brickburn,
Perhaps I missed it, but do we know how many attend these shows annually? Perhaps past years attendance numbers.

I am writing an email and hope to show that a petition of 3500 keyboard jockeys, that most likely won't be visiting them anytime soon anyway, can't pay better than X amount of people attending the show year after year.

Not only are they giving up on a paying job today but for years to come. Also, as many of the emails they have already received have stated, the continual loss of business from those that will not utilize their services in the future due to their decision.
JTT

Sadly I do not know the detailed stats on visitors to the shows.

Other hunters are sending emails and letting people know about the issue on local forums.

With the petition the behavioural reinforcement is easy; You get to see the numbers go up when you sign on.

Here, we can only tell our fellow hunters what we have done.

Keep it going.

Brickburn,

I'm sorry I'm a little late to the game. Is there a change.org petition to sign?

Also, I intend on emailing all of the hotel chains involved to let them know my extreme displeasure (in a civil manner of course) with their actions.

In my opinion, this is a perfect opportunity for SCI, DSC, etc., to use the power of their numbers to affect change. If they were to encourage all members across the world to sign a petition and email the hotels, then I guarantee we could get more than 3500 signatures, and from hunters that actually travel to these places, and use these hotels, unlike most of these antis around the world that have no intention of using these hotels ever.

We definitely need to all band together across the globe and make our voices, and wallets, heard.

No petition, just keep emailing them.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
