M-70 Classic Stainless & Pre 64 300 AI

Sorry I don't post on here very much, but I don't have time to post much anywhere anymore. I am the GM of Unknown Munitions, and it keeps me busy. I have two M-70s for sale. I have resisted posting them here because I have such a low post count. However, this is the group most likely to have interest.

I am selling guns from my personal collection. These are rifles I bought for various reasons and not shot them. Shipping and insurance will be $100 per rifle to the lower 48 US via FedEx. They will ship from Unknown Munitions, but Unknown Munitions has no involvement other than shipping them for me. Rifles are sold as is. No trades--I need to fund my first Cape Buffalo hunt this Aug. Rifles listed elsewhere.

Model 70 Stainless Classic 375 H&H. $1250. This one looks to have been shot very little but carried a lot. The spots on the outside of the barrel are just spots, not pits, and will polish/bead blast off. I can have my shop bead blast it if desired.

Pre 64 Model 300 Ackley IMP. $1100. Scope is a Leu 3.5-10x40.

Just to avoid any confusion, and I certainly don't want to get crossways with anyone here. I am too old for that.

@woodsman1991 was the first to offer to buy. He did this via PM and we made the deal. I had two other members make inquiries before woodsman1991 made his inquiry, but woodsman1991was the first to make me an offer. He did that via PM, then we talked on the phone. I think that is fair as I could be.

I will make sure in future adds that I am very clear about how it will work. I apologize for not doing that up front.

I'm guessing we'll turn the classifieds into an auction site now lol, not to take anything away from the OP or woodsman1991, I sent a message at 9:47 am EST that I would take the SS model 70 375 as well as I was at the airport and didn't want him waiting on me and not being able to reach me via email so I included my Cell number,that message also Included I would send payment when I returned home, I've asked for verification of the PMs just to be assured that the sights letting messages through on time also. As a frustrated/concerned member I'm hoping we can get a solid system that's mandatory for posting in the classifieds and not make it as this sale has been. It was a great deal hopefully for the buyer and seller, but I feel
If this kind of operation gets to be more and more well have an AH auction sight as well just offer the sellers what the items worth, making and offer and I'll take it just won't do guys. Let's all keep our forum top notch, I understand that we have had so many scams lately and that's my reason for the PM vs auto posting I'll take it!

Woodsman made me a firm offer at 7:17 AM Pacific Time. I got in touch with Woodsman and made the deal.

Charlie then said he would take it at 10:04 Pacific Time on this thread and then sent me a PM at 10:08 saying he would take it. His firm offer was too late.

Woodsman's firm offer came first and I took it. I don't see what the issue is.

This is the end of my comments on the topic. I'll make sure I don't post any more good deals on this forum.

Mtn Infantry yes me as well, but that's not what I was trying to convey it was a heck of a deal an offer any less than asking price was robbery!, my offer included my personal cell number to be contacted, obviously since the PM was so early In the Am I was simply not followed up on to get ahold of me or responded to until a deal had been made by the OP and Woodsman1991, for years a first public I'll take it trumps any PM, but hey this is America the rules change as we go lol, I just have always enjoyed the classifieds here and would love to see them continue but the classifieds aren't classifieds if we don't have any statutes to on buying and selling as members will post there items elsewhere Rave or Rant take it as you will just trying to stay up with the current times on buying and selling from fellow hunters. Just landed in Anchorage goin on a bear hunt with my Custom 375 h&h! Thanks

I see it both ways, only I wasn't contacted or replied back to until after woodsman 1991 no personal issue but as a member and frequent buyer/seller I would have liked the consideration. But thanks for the understanding and in no way any personal fowls meant. Just hope to avoid this issue in the future so there's no hope lost in our classified system! I've got no dog in this fight and can see it both ways.

Here's my opinion; you stated in your PM you were traveling, about to board a flight, and payment would need to wait until you return (you didn't give him a date). What if the seller needed the money sooner, or didn't want to wait? What if he tried to contact you and you were in the air? There was a condition tied to your offer which the seller didn't need to entertain if he didn't want to. The other PM also stated both guns. I don't know if he ended up taking both or not, but I can't blame a seller for looking at or taking a deal for everything at once rather than a one off and possibly needing to wait an unknown time to sell the other item.

Again my opinion, but your Public "I'll take it" doesn't trump a PM if a deal was already struck. Additionally your "I'll take it" is once again an offer, though it's customary to accept this, a seller isn't contractually obligated to take your offer if they haven't responded ESPECIALLY when someone else posted about a private PM coming on both rifles. The PM could've been in reference to shipping them together or picking up in person. A full price offer on a house doesn't mean a seller needs to refuse a slightly lower all cash offer over yours, or conversely a higher priced offer as long as a contract between the two isn't agreed upon.

Off topic but I looked at a 71' Cutlass 442 a few years ago. I made an offer lower than asking and the seller declined. A few days later the seller messaged me saying if I'd do $XXX we had a deal. I agreed, but HE can't meet the next couple days because of work. The day he wants to meet said I'm out of state for business, but offer to send a deposit and reroute my flights into his local airport on said day/time, pay remaining cash and drive the vehicle home which the Seller agreed to but told me not to worry about sending a deposit he'd prefer all the cash at once. The morning of my flight I message him to reconfirm time, and let him know my flights were showing on time, I'm heading to the bank to withdraw the cash. I hear nothing back but don't think anything of it because it's early. I message and call him several more times before boarding throughout the day with no reply. I land in his city and call him without answer. I text him asking if he's alive and say I'm taking an uber to his address (I have it from the first time we met). He immediately texts back and says he sold the car the night prior. Was I pissed? Absolutely! I didn't get mad, just asked if he got more than we agreed upon, to which he said yes asking price. I thanked him for his time and got a rental car to drive home Did I fault him? Not really because he got $5K more than he would've from me. What I was mad about was that he didn't have the decency to tell me the night before upon making the deal knowing I altered flight plans to fly into his city (several hours from mine) and now had to get a rental car to drive several hours home, when I could've just changed my flight back to the original time and flown to the airport my truck was at 20 minutes from my house.

I get that. The OP may have read your message where you stated delay in payment, then the other seeing it was for both and chose to contact that buyer first who had money in hand.

Regardless, hope you kill a bruiser and post some pictures for everyone.

Picked up the rifles yesterday and got a tour of the shop. Fantastic place, if you want hand loaded ammo or components I'd highly recommend them. Both rifles were as advertised, little bit rough stock on the 375 and the 300 has been bubba'd a bit but the deal was very fair and I'm entirely happy. Wanted the 300 for a donor action anyway and the 375 will get a custom stock. Great seller, deal with confidence.

Did you try shooting the 300AI Magnum? Its been a caliber I’ve recently been considering.

That 375 looks like it’d be a great all weather gun for everything from cold snowy/rainy Alaska to Africa and everything in between.
