Offered for sale is my unfired .375 H&H Magnum Weatherby Vanguard Safari with European walnut stock (VSJ375HR4OS). I searched high and low for this rifle before finally locating in Canada in December of 2020. My intent was to find the perfect leopard/plains game rifle that would also satisfy legal requirements in the event a 46" buffalo was encountered on the bait trail. After importation, the rifle was shipped to Mark Crowell at New England Custom Gun (NECG) where he fitted and installed their classic barrel band swivel, installed a brand-new, crisp 3.5 pound Timney trigger with custom 2-position safety. Mark also removed the forend-mounted sling swivel stud and plugged the hole with a Cocobolo plug that perfectly matches the forend cap. Lastly, the rifle carries new Talley steel bases that were installed to Talley specs by master gunsmith Vance Moore of Meridian, Mississippi.
Although push feed, it is my belief that a mid-bore .375 doesn't need to be overbuilt. This rifle points like your favorite deer rifle and is guaranteed to shoot .99" or less 3-shot groups at 100 yards when using premium factory ammunition.
The rifle is in new, unfired condition except for the improvements detailed above. I embarrassingly have over $2300 in the package; however, will take $1850 shipped to your FFL. References, payment methods and invoices can be sent via private message.
Please don't believe the MSRP prices that might be found online. Weatherby only made 99 of these in .375 and they are impossible to find. As a reminder, the MSRP on a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 15-year Bourbon is only $139.99.
As a postscript, I've always preferred the Vanguard to the Mark V action. The one downfall they have, in my opinion, is the cheap-feeling, factory safety which I have attempted to eliminate by the Timney replacement.

I never knew that rifle was made, and I am a big Weatherby fan.

It's beautiful!

I owned one of these. It was my first 375 H&H. Shot great. Also, you could turn the loaded gun upside down & work the action. It would feed & function smoothly every time UPSIDE DOWN! This push feed system worked great. He is right. The safety on the vanguard does not match the good looks of the rest of the gun.
I sold mine for a CRF, but I wish I would have just kept it as a spare.

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
