Spear Safaris, in partnership with our good friend Wayne Grant, have tied up Ibanda Game reserve as well as Lwafi in Western Tanzania, where we can offer affordable Safaris for Great Buffalo, Leopard and many more.

Sample : 7 day Buffalo Safari, all inclusive except Gun permits $ 14 386.00.
: 10 day buffalo Safari all inclusive except gun permits $ 17 558.00

No charter needed, you can fly commercially to within 4 hours drive of camp.

See below pictures of the test Safari from august 2016.

Very cool! I would have volunteered to be the guinea pig for the test safari!

Those are some great buff that the test safari produced!!

That looks like a very good deal for Tanzanian Buffalo! Can you provide more details? How much for a second or third Buffalo?

For now we are going to limit to 1 Buffalo per "Buffalo hunt" as we do not want to take more than about 8 or 9 Buffalo out of Ibanda, lwafi we have not decided yet but 2nd buffalo probably $3500.00 if and when we decide. Bigger safaris like Leopard and Lion we will let 2 or 3 go.

Any ideas on what a leopard hunt may run? What is the leopard and lion population like in the area?

Nice offer for Tanzania. Also, what is an estimate of gun permits? Is it per rifle? Ammo? And, what city do you fly into?

14 day leopard hunt, no Buffalo, excluding Bait animals but including Leopard trophy fee $27 965.00.
Gun licenses run $177 per gun and import duty of $118.
Fly to Dar es Salaam and then connect to Mwanza for Lwafi GR, and Bukoba for Ibanda GR

We have not yet done any Cat Hunts there, but saw and Heard lots of Leopard sign, Big ones.
No Lion in Ibanda, one of the reasons why the Buffalo are so good. Rumanyika has Sitatunga, although it is hard to hunt there.
Lwafi has a very good track record for Lion and Elephant as well, we expect good results as very little hunting has been done here over the last few years. Lwafi should also produce good Sitatunga.

The Buffalo are in the area all year round, but the hunting gets easier as it dries out and after a burn, Early August on wards is generally better.
In order to Hunt Roan, of which there are many, you need a 21 day license. You do not have to book a 21 day Safari though, 10 day Buffalo hunt, but you take out the 21 day license which will enable you to hunt Roan.
$ 7 965 in stead of $ 5458.00 license fee.

Best prices I have seen for Tanzania.

Can you do a Sitatunga hunt alone or does it have to be added to a Buff?

Are Thompson's and Grants Gazelle available on a buffalo hunt? What about lesser kudu?

We can definitely do Sitatunga alone on 7 to 10 day hunt, but will have to buy the 21 day License. I would however recommend Zambia for a Sitatunga alone hunt. I have access to Tondwa GMA for that.
No Gazelle or Lessr Kudu in Ibanda or Lwafi, sorry.

Hi Ernest. Hope you are well and having a great season. I read you operate in Lwafi Game Reserve from 2016. I find that strange as i know the operator and owner of Lwafi Game Reserve is Northern Hunting Ent. Please can you clarify? Thank you

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
