I have no doubt that you are correct, this is just what I have to work with for now. Unfortunately I don’t have any good rifle ranges in my area. So this setup has to work for now
I finally was able to get to the range this morning and work out this beautiful rifle. It did not disappoint! I started by sighting in the iron sights at 25 yards and then getting the scope on paper. I used the Hornady 200 grn SP’s for these first shots. Once I was close at 25 yards I moved back...
Thank you. That is a Boyd’s laminate stock. Certainly not the highest quality stock you can get but for the price it’s actually a pretty nice option. And much nicer looking to me than a synthetic stock. That rifle is my bad weather choice.
Unfortunately I got rained out of my range day today. So I still haven’t been able to shoot my new 35 whelen. But I got out my collection of Ruger M77’s and admired them for a while.
Left to right: M77 Tang Safety in .25-06, Mark II in .30-06, Hawkeye African in 35 Whelen
I was not able to shoot my rifle this weekend but I should be able to this coming weekend. I have been handling the rifle a lot and really looking it over. It is a beautifully made rifle, but with one exception. The checkering is quite disappointing in my opinion. I’m not sure if it’s pressed or...
I was finally able to pick up my rifle today. It is a fine looking rifle, I can’t wait to shoot it. I threw a Leupold 2.5-8x36 in some Warne QD rings on top. I hope to shoot it this weekend, I’ll be sure to post my results if I do. The only factory ammo I could track down was the 200gn TTSX and...
Looking for one of these scopes in good condition. I would prefer one without CDS dials but I wouldn’t be opposed to one with them. Let me know if you have one of these your willing to part with. Thanks!
I agree and have thought the same thing. I just haven’t had the time to get the range. I plan to do barrel break in and post some groups as soon as I shoot it.
Unbelievably I was able to snag one of these beauties on gun broker tonight, and the price was under $2k! I don’t feel too bad paying a little over msrp considering how limited the availability is on these rifles. This rifle will join my M77 tang safety in 25-06 and my M77 MKII in 30-06. Making...
Best American Duffel or BAD bags are awesome duffels. American made, lots of sizes and way more reasonably priced compared to Red Ox. I have the No. 3 with backpack straps and it’s a perfect carry on size. I plan to buy the No. 5 down the road.
Yeah I understand. My plan was to be able to stabilize up to 160’s and focus mostly on 140-150’s. I think the 7mm-08 is best suited when using the 160’s and lighter bullets.
I am so envious of you guys who got these rifles! I want one of these in the worst way, but I need to sell a rifle first in order to fund one.
I already have a M77 tang safety in 25-06 and a MKII in 30-06. Owning a Hawkeye in 35 whelen would be the perfect addition to my collection.
I just put this rifle together but another build has peaked my interest, so I figured I’d test the waters.
This rifle started out as a Savage Model 11 Lightweight Hunter in 260 Rem. I used it for a few years and killed a few deer with it. I recently sent the barreled action to Shaw Custom...
Up for sale are my Swarovski SLC 10x50 WB bino’s. These were manufactured in 1998 but they have been absolute safe queens for most of that time. They are in perfect condition. I’m the second owner, I got them from an old birder. I used these one season as my tripod bino’s and they are amazing...
I have two sets of Ruger scope rings for sale. One set appears to be low height and they came off a M77 tang safety. The other set appears to be medium height and they came off a M77 Mark II. Both are 1 inch. $40 per set or $75 for both. Paypal is preferred. I’ll cover shipping in the lower 48...
This is a topic I think about a lot for my own collection. I don’t like having guns I don’t use unless they have sentimental value and I don’t like too much over lap in my cartridge selection. This is my current collection
Handguns
9mm Sig Sauer semi auto
357 mag Ruger SP101 revolver
45 acp...
I love the 280 Rem. It was my main hunting rifle for the last 8 years. I’ve used 140 accubonds and 140 trophy coppers with great success. Coincidentally I just sold my 280, but only because I didn’t care for the rifle itself. I already miss the cartridge and I’m sure I’ll own another one again...
