    Siting in a Trijicon RMR

I always just start close to get it on paper. Maybe 20yds or so. If you have a rest, take a shot. If you can see your impact, steady in the rest, then adjust the dot to your impact. Same concept as a one shot zero using a scope. Then I fine tune at whatever distance deemed necessary for that...

How do you guys handle ear protection whilst on safari?

I use custom passive/non-electronic from Westone. Just put them in when getting close. My preference is using suppressor with no ear pro though.

    Hats on safari

Nice! What is the hat in the top picture sir? I’ve been looking for something like that.

    Vortex Razor Scopes

Trijicon generally gets good reviews in the durability and tracking department. With that said, not all NF are heavy. The nxs 2-10 is actually lighter than the credo you mentioned at 20oz and with a larger objective. It is sfp but on a 10x scope it shouldn’t really matter too much. The nx8 1-8...

    Vortex Razor Scopes

I believe NF has a mil/le program too. Would be worth looking into for an IMO better scope than both Leupold and vortex.

Scope Recommendation - Swaro or Trijicon

Id rather have a NF 1-8 than either of those and it’s cheaper than the swaro.

    African Huntin Boots

I wore some hanwag makra trek lights and they were great in the mountains but a little loud for stalking. Sole is a little stiff. Probably try some zamberlan salathe on my next trip. Would like to try some Courteneys too At some point.

How to finance a Dangerous Game safari?

Great idea and I actually have a birthday coming up. Problem is, I don’t have 50-70 people I like enough to invite to my party! I suppose I could suggest a large minimum donation for the few who do attend…

    First hunt, short notice

I suppose I should write a formal report but short story is that I did end up booking with Tsala. Talked to several outfitters and Rouan made me a nice offer that I couldn’t refuse. Had a great time and took some nice trophies.

    Any nighttime predator hunters here?

Humidity will certainly degrade your image. Adverse atmospherics is what will set sensors apart from one another. They all look decent on a nice, clear, low humidity night. At 100yds, just about any of them should work for you. Better sensors will give you a better image and ability to...

What do you look for in a young Outfitter?

I think communication and clarity regarding expectations is paramount. There seems to be quite a bit of smoke and mirrors or downright direct deception with outfitters.

    Packing list

I've only been on one safari but these folks pretty much covered it. I took a carry on and personal item backpack and was overpacked. I went in November so it was much hotter, but chapstick, sunscreen, boonie hat, sunglasses were a must. Headlamp, gaiters, croc shoes came in handy. I hiked 50...

Buffalo & Kudu Hunt - $10,000 All Inclusive

I'm considering the possibility of a buff hunt in 2025. Can someone who has done this describe the terrain and style of hunt? I'm only seeing the one report on G4A's page. I'm interested in a stalking, getting in close for the shot experience. I don't want to shoot one from 150yds. Who did...

    Anyone own an Argo?

Have hunted with a 6x6 and honestly wasn't impressed. Slow, no suspension, and stuck several times in terrain that I didn't feel was that difficult. I believe owner ended up selling it. Friends BIL also had one for a while but sold his as well. No experience with the 8x8 but seems that would...

    .375 Cal Suppressor anyone?

Well, yes, I’m sure it’s noticeable comparing an ultra 338 to a dominus. Comparing an ultra 7 to 9 is not a significant difference in real world scenarios from my experience owning both. I agree that they post accurate numbers with their Pulse system.
  23. S

    .375 Cal Suppressor anyone?

Same here. 9” gets a little cumbersome and, on smaller calibers, doesn’t make enough difference in sound reduction to justify the added length IMO. Possibly would on a 375 though? I’d still opt for a 7.

    Scope Zero Dependability?

I'm a NF fan. The nxs 2-10 is hard to beat for a lightweight, durable optic that tracks true and has good clarity. I guess the only negative reviews I have were with a Leupold mk5, sig tango, and cheaper vortex. Mk 5 had debris internally and had to go back twice for them to fix it. Tango had...

My new Rand's hat is on the way...

Reviving this a bit with a question in the hat genre but not specific to Rand's. Where would one send a felt hat for reconditioning and possibly resizing? I inherited my grandfather's hat and would like to have this done so that I could wear it on my future hunts and adventures. I only need to...

Trijicon RMR red dot for Heym double

Another option, which holds the reputation of extreme durability, is the aimpoint ACRO p2. This does, however, have a different footprint and I'm unsure of mounting options for your particular application. You may consider a cheek pad or even riser if necessary to get a better cheek weld.

    Using Thermal Imaging for Hunting

A good tripod setup is also advantageous. I really enjoy my scope + monocular setup for pig and coyote control.

Red dot for a large calibre
