I happened to have a Warne M902/830M base. The hole spacing lined up. I just had to do a bit of grinding to remove part of the front of the base, then mounted this onto the rib. I was then able to mount a picatinny mounting plate to the base.

It is sad and frustrating that many FFL dealers in CA don't understand the business they are in and the license they have. As stated, if the firearm is coming from an individual the dealer can accept it in CA and basically does a private party transfer. They need the seller's driver's license...

The old adage comes into play "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." Big actions were probably scarce and ridiculously expensive when that rifle was built. There was a lot of skill in building that rifle. It is interesting at least to have a look at.

That is a lot of rounds on a vintage gun. I would be looking for a heavy proof gun if going vintage. Again, a pigeon gun with 1 1/4 ounce proofs (2 3/4" chambers) or a "fowler" with 3" chambers. These often can be found with 32" barrels and are usually on the planer side. Boxlocks of course.

My thought also was that it was built on a 10 bore Scott. An original Scott would not be mono blocked. As you say, all kinds of wrong...

At that price point you have a LOT of classic British guns out there to consider. But if you truly plan to "shoot the hell out of it" either buy a newer gun or look into a boxlock pigeon gun.
