wanted a very light mountain gun specifically for goats/sheep. there was a gap in my gun collection between 223 and 30-06. additionally i am a lefty so this also makes it tougher to find exactly what i want. i used to be one of the guys at the range that wouldcroll their eyes when i see a...
i
just posted a link to a short video how it works. yep i like the black dial rolex explorer 2 on a leather strap. very low key rolex and what i wear daily. incidentally, my 24 hour hand is set on alaska time.
a watch with a gmt function (2nd time zone) like a rolex gmt or explorer can actually tell u the direction you are heading, or should be headed if the sun is out. a gmt watch is definitely workable as essential hunting gear particularly on alaska DIY hunts out in the middle of nowhere...
Thanks for the info! I will reach out to him. I did buy the browning listed on Cabela’s. it would be nice to kerp one in Alaska and then have one with me here in Georgia.
i have both. its like choosing between a blonde or a brunette. both are wonderful cartridges. if there is a lot of future DG hunting planned, then go with the 416. If looking for an all-around cartridge to take anywhere, with an occasional DG hunt, go 375.
Greetings all. I purchased a used Browning A-bolt from the cabelas gun library. It came scoped with no open sights. Anyone have any recommendation where I can pick up replacement sights for it?
I bought the browning listed on cabelas. its at the house lol. leupold based and rings. Gonna chop it to 21” and replace the bases to set up for qd, and install open sights. my alaska brush gun

welcome to the website! I find it to be a great source of information. and there are lots of Alaska people on this forum so Alaska hunting has talked about a lot. I myself have hunted Africa and Alaska, but more so Alaska. my father owns a place in Anchorage so i go up several times a year.
i have a small rail on all my rifles, to attach a qd bipod in case i end up with a long shot. actually worked to perfection on a 470 yard prone shot on the noatak river (in Alaska) on a caribou. its the only time i used the bipod but im glad i had the option to use it.
I purchased some peregrine 480 grain to load for my 450 nitro express. both the solid copper and bushmaster. it has been forever since these have been available for purchase in the USA. Does anyone have any info on the company? any time these will be available is the US? im about to quit...

im also a huge IWC fan
Jeez lots of Rolex bashing here, gentlemen. not really sure why. If u dont want one, great. but please dont bash people that do appreciate them. the rolex tool watch lines (sub, gmt, milgaus, explorer) are exceptional timepieces and are remarkably accurate. i used to be in the rolex bashing...
id hate to have to shoot a bear with a handgun. they can cover 100 yards in 6 seconds. hitting a moving target which might be coming to chew on me isnt something i ever want to find out. that being said, i carry a ruger 44mag wheel gun when im hunting and have my 416 or 338.
