Me and friend are hunting Nyakasanga this August. I'll report back.
CMS also has Dande which is fantastic. I was there in '21. Plenty of buff and plains game. My report from that trip is here.
I'd recommend one of the Zambezi concessions because it's really fun to fish and/or just drink beers...
Thanks. I hadn't read this in two years. Brings back good memories.
I'm going back to Zim in August for 10 days to hunt Nyakasanga. I'm hunting with Keith again. Counting down the days!
I hope to have a similar report after!
I'm hosting a dove hunt today at my place in SC where it will be 93 degress with a heat index of 99. Humidity will be about 50% and no shade. Poncho shirts are the way to go.
When I was in Zim (September '21) they were great as well. No problem with the "laundry" service. They were perfect...
I love the RSM. I bought the 416 and the 375 prior to my zimbabwe trip (paid around 1700 for each in '20/'21). I took them with me but they only made it as far as Addis...so I hunted with a camp rifle. However, they made it home with me and now whenever I go hunt deer, hogs I find myself...
Thanks. I may take your advice. How about coming home? Any reason why I can't charter from camp first thing in the AM, take Airlink from Harare to Jo'burg in time for the evening flight back to ATL?
I have Matt Mayers at Genus Logistics handling stateside to be delivered to Michael Pepi with Jonas Bros in NY to handle taxidermy. Then shipping to SC.
Friends- since this thread started, I just got my invoice back from Afropride in Harare (this is who CMS connected me with). Doesn't seem unreasonable to me...but I'm a first timer. This includes buff skull, cape, backskin, impala skull/cape/backskin, warthog skull/cape, duiker skull, klippy...
Thanks for posting this. My trophies from Sept are still in Harare. This info is very helpful for my budget. Don't listen to the bullshit. You'll have those horns the rest of your life. Worth every penny.
I am biased/unexperienced since I've only been on one safari, but CMS is top notch. I know a well-run organization when I see one and CMS is certainly that. I also highly recommend my PH, Keith Wall. He and his trackers are awesome and a lot of fun.
Fellow South Carolinian:
Go for the "three-seven-five". Since I bought one for my first safari, I have used it exclusively on South Carolina whitetails, pigs, and even a coyote. With Swift A frames and some good solids, there is nothing that walks this planet that it cannot stop. I have a Ruger...
