"Obsolete" items that you still use

Pretty much others have stated a lot of good obsolete items that can be a lifesaver for when the situation turns from a standard day in the woods to survival situation. Dah....It's not obsolete if it's still being used. It's just an exceptional good product that is no longer being produced by...

    Scope for .416 Ruger?

Questions: Why low power scope? Why not a scope that allows for the full potential use for the 416? Ask yourself how long do you plan to use or own the 416? Then decide if you should get a low power 1-5, 1-6, 2-8, power scope? If your planning on using and owning your 416 for years then why...

Welcome to the AH community. Spent 12 weeks at Fort Lewis. LOL, That was enough of Washington State I could stand. Great place to visit......at least once, just not in the summer. LMAO. Heat, humidity, rain, repeat continuously, and them damn fire ants.

    Handguns for women

It blows my mine that you have such an assine concept that you even remotely think the average person should use a handgun to engage a threat with a rifle at long range. Not hypothesis! Facts! I grew up in a long lineage of military and law enforcement family that led me to a military and law...

    Pump Rifle

I had a 7600 in 30-06 back in the late 70's. The pump action forestock had a bit of movement left and right making it a bit of a pain to get a consistent hold. I ended up trading it for a 740 in 30-06.

Things you survived, but probably shouldn't have

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing......being able to save your aircraft is a much better landing.

    Handguns for women

Let us know how your legal situations turn out when you explain why you engaged perpetrator(s) at 100 yards. At 30 yards, 90 feet, courts deem a rational person is far enough away to remove themself to a safe area, away from any percieved threat Most courts recognize 20-30 feet as the max...

Things you survived, but probably shouldn't have

Ok these near death posts/threads are "harrowing". But nothing to those of our military personnel who have survived hostile environments. I'm waiting to hear some real horror stories of near death experiences. Homicidal, Suicidal, Adrenaline Junkie, or just plain foolishness: My multiple...

I have to disagree on your recommendation to stay away from the snub nose 1-1/2, 2 inch barrel 38 as an EDC/PDF. Short barrels regardless of style are meant for close range as within feet, inside a room, not yards. Revolvers are no harder to become proficient nor less accurate comparing a snub...

SCI Convention 2026 - Who Is Joining Me?

If everything goes well I'll be attending the SCI AH get together on Friday evening for sure. Since I already have hunts in the planning process for 2027 the number of days attending the SCI Convention is still undecided at least 2, maybe 3 days to just see what's available and to visit with...
