Now that I think about it, I don't believe I've heard "Rugger" in awhile.

I found this Savage 111 in 270 Win at a cheap price on the used rack at my local Cabelas a few weeks back. I bought it more for the glossy Leupold Vari-X IIc 3-9x scope than for the gun; but assuming this thing can shoot like a Savage is supposed to, then it is likely to become a workhorse rifle.

I can't believe I forgot about "Bruno". :cool:

A vintage Interarms Mark X or Whitworth Express is about on par with a Model 70 Safari Express, and can be had regularly for $1,000-1,500. And that's for a factory sorted big game rifle.

My late father used to traffic in early 1911's and German Lugers back in the 1970's, and I still have his Buy/Sell journal from those days. I'll do everyone the favor of not posting the two and low-three digit prices he paid for those things. :)
