I only have a few hammer doubles, all bigger bores. I have a Rodda 4 bore, Holland & Holland 8 bore, and Holland & Holland howdah pistol in .577 Snyder (pretty sure that still counts eventhough it’s a pistol). All are Jones under lever guns and very fun. Have not gotten to hunt with them yet unfortunately but would like to do so.

@vette447 would be great see your rifles & Howdah pistol, do you by chance have or know the load for the .577 Snider in a Howdah ?

I have a new to me Rodda in .577 Snider & it looks to have the full length chamber in .577 Snider, but it is very small, my .577 Snider sporting rifle is much larger/Heavier & that has a bit of push back !

If I ever get a double rifle I’m hoping for a .450/400 3 1/4” nitro with hammers.
Or a .475 3 1/4” hammerless.

Anyone has any experience using a (modern NE) double rifle with hammers, for the hunting of dangerous game? Not as a one off, but extensive use?

Thank you! Yes sir, it sure is. It has a neat little two cartridge trap on it, I’ve not seen one that small personally. Flip up aperature and a flip up ivory bead front sight too.

I have a Sauer double in 11.2x60r with a flip up aperture. It has accounted for several black bear for me over the years. The German and Austrian doubles are great rifles!
Enjoy your Scherping!

@Themauserkid That is a real screamer...............I shot a 9.3x72 a few times. The 232 grain bullet at reasonable velocity was a pleasure to launch. totally jealous. Have several hammer guns............this is my fav..............FWB

They are my favorite for sure. I’m also partial to Sauer, nice to hear about one still being used!

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
