Looks like a great project, not overly familiar with cartridge but understanding it similar to 404J . Will you have difficultly finding brass? Please post some finished pictures , really enjoy learning from other peoples Mauser build(s).

cheers
Pat

interesting, Wikipedia doesnt have much on it but claims 400gr at 2080fps using a .424" bullet. this would put the cartridge on a similar level with the 450-400 NE 3".

An unusual caliber.
But your project should give you lots of pride and joy.
I guess we'd all like to know what timber etc and would love to see the finished project.
I wish you well and above all it must be a great feeling to make your ultimate game rifle.
I think it's great and I'm sure all other readers would congratulate you.

She's gonna be a beauty, make sure we get to see the finished project
Cheers,
Cody

Hi Tim,... great projekt!

I had pretty much the same idea, and this is the result.

I ordered scope mount bases, but there is no scope.

Action is as yours, barrel is a Lothar Walther 65 cm, and all added metal parts are Recknagel components.

Very cool that you guys build rifles from the actions up! Good luck on the project.

I hope you realise that every build posted here is another "fix" for us enthusiasts of the custom rifle addiction so please dont hold back from the build progress. The 10.75x68 with todays powders and bullets is a very usefull cartridge

Hello Tim , i have a fn commercial chambered in said cartridge, with a 347grn woodleigh sp and 63grn of adi 2208 gives 2112fps . I beleive 2208 has the same burn rate as varget. Still working up a 400grn load.

In all the countrys, Germany had its "European tour 39-45", you can find excellent M98 Actions, even toay.

Often, they are a great basis to build a beautyful sporting rifle.

Search your attic thorougly, find a peace of history, not a MP44 or MG42, :sneaky:but a M98, and your gunsmith will do the job.

The 10.75 x 68 is the same bullet diameter as the 10.75x73 or 404 Jeffery as we know it. John"Pondoro " Taylor made a extremely negative write -up about this cartridge. As mentioned, today, if you do get this caliber ( very scarce) it will perform excellently with today`s bullet and powders...(y)(y) Brass / Bullets can be purchase at Stewardts Bullets ( Hansie Minnaar) here in South Africa. Very good drawn brass casings...Send me a pm if you need his contact details.

Im very pleased to Hear all the positive comments and some usefull Information from everybody! Appreciate it!..
Im busy making this Mauser in Germany by Prinz waffen.
I have made myself already an 375H&H with the Same Action! Just Love the Mauser, especially when they Are in good condition and original! Im using only Original Parts
Lothar Walther Barrel, ( which is the Same as 404 Jeffrey)
The 10.75x68 just fits better into the Standard Action!

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
