Currently us S365 propellant loading 7x57 mauser with Norma Oryx 156gr using Norma cases.

Would like loading recommendations for using S335 propellant for the same configuration from someone using this combination?
Kind regards

My main go to bullet for all three 7x57 but use H4350.

I believe you can call Somchem directly and ask for recommendations. That is if they are working. You might also send Alchemist a PM he loads 6.5 x 55 for his son but I don't know if he has ever used the 156 Gn. Oryx.

https://www.somchemreload.com/

click left side to find caliber and then agree and you will have all the recommended loads from Somchem.

Batch number is important because some are worse than others.....

S335 not recommended for 6.5x55 mm Swedish Mauser, I believe the inquiry is for 7x57mm...

Somchem only have PMP 152gr for 7x57 as nearest...
I use Oryx 156gr Norma and have S355 propellant...not sure what the ideal START and MAX recommendation would be?

Sorry S355 not S335

Best get the powder right to avoid serious issues....

What rifle is it?

I load my 7x57 mm with 170gr Rhinos, using S355.

You can safely start with the minimum load for the 152gr bullet as listed and work up slowly from there checking for any signs off pressure as you go and obviously stopping before you get to the max load.

Did you try the link I sent?

More confusion on which powder, wake up and get the actual powder right that needs to be used.....

I did a whole simulation and missed the swap from S335 to S355 in the discussion, confirm what powder you have, the water volume of a fired case and the barrel length and I can give you something to check out. Possible accuracy below the listed maximum on the website, maybe give the details of your current S365 load to see if the software gets a similar velocity?
But start with Somchem load data that IvW listed above and it looks good on the simulation.

The PMP bullet is 152gr and flatbase 28.9mm long.
The Oryx 156gr is flat base 28.7mm long; nothing is it.
The extra 4gr bullet weight does not alter the load very much at all even seated at the same depth.

The 75mm listed on the Somchem site is pretty deep but you will have to see what your rifle throat can handle. Maybe able to push it out a but further.
At 75mm you have 10.7mm in the neck of the case.

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
