I have 2 friends going to SA for a Safari. When they are done they would like to take a trip from Jo Burg to Capetown and back to Jo Burg. They are wanting to know where they could store their guns while they go to Capetown.

If staying at Africa Sky or Afton they will for a fee. Otherwise, Riflepermits.

Please feel free to have your friends contact us for their rifles storage need.

Outstanding, excellent question as I will be doing same thing in July 2020. Have 2 weeks touring after hunt and will need storage. Last time SAPs did for a $$, but looking for something proper/official this time.

About a year ago I was told by an outfitter in RSA that you can store firearms at a police station. Is this incorrect/no longer true?

Quite a few media reports of locally confiscated & handed in firearms being stolen from/lost /sold/hired to criminals by members of the SAPS (South African Police Service) I would rather settle with a private institution offering the service if I were in your shoes. Sadly, I don't have major faith in their record or safe keeping of anything valuable.
Chances are probably slim due to the knowledge of international attention should they let anything happen to a visitor's rifle, but would you risk the possibility of al the headaches to follow if you take the reports into consideration?

Agree with Jaws, I am looking for something other than the SAP's pers next time around.

We have been recommending Henry at www.rifelpermits.com to our safari guests for many years. You will not find a more professional, efficient, or reliable service for any of your firearm related needs.

Thanks
I will ask my outfitter for their recommendation also, seams Henry's name is provided often. That's another repeat positive recommendation.

Thanks

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
