The parts have finally arrived!
Action: Magnum Hansen m704 classic
Barrel: Lothar Walther Magnum sporter profile to be cut to 27" / 68,5 cm

Stock: in the deciding phase but i think im going to use A HS precision stock.

I have been waiting for these components for quite some time now. The action got delayed several times. The action is gonna get blued by a friend of mine after christmas.

By chance i walked into the larger gunshop in the area and found the reloading components just long there on the Shelf aswell!

Now to source some brass for it.

Im gonna try and replicate normas factory ammo 200gr swift-a frame at around 910 m/s.

28 inch barrel may be better for the 8x68S

I think 27 will be well enough considering norma test shoots ammo in 26" inch barrels and its around their ballistic i want to replicate.

I am excited for you. That should be a very nice setup when it's finished. I have a 8X68s in a Blaser and the more I shoot it the more I like it and it has been easy to load for although I have not loaded any 200gr bullets.
HS makes good stocks but another stock you may consider is a Hogue Stock with the full bed block. It is very comfortable to shoot and really tames the recoil on my 8mm Rem Mag.
I don't know where you are located but here in the U.S. Huntingtons has 8x68s brass available in both Norma and RWS.

Love the 8x68 have a titan ii from Voere twin triggers don't think it has been fired much .....picked it up at auction ..... easy to get reloading components in Europe.

Very similar to the 8 Rem mag ...which I also have however the 8x68 is easier to reload for ...... than the 8mm rem mag and pushed lighter bullets accurately ....which is handy for probably 125gr to 250gr .........

Looks like the makings of a very fine rifle, Coldswede All the best with it.

Really like the 8x68 also, more so every time I hunt with it.
For southern Africa again next month, Namibia this time, I've seen Namibia mentioned in the same sentence as the 8x68 so often it had to be the first choice to bring this time. Will be shooting 220gn Sierra GameKings.

Please give a report on how well the 220gr SGK's perform. I too have a load for the 8x68s with them but have not shot anything other than paper with them yet. Best of luck.

Excellent rifle , I am to commence with my 8x68S, have the dies, a lot of RWS brass, Obendorf Mauser action already dril/tap for a scope. I want to order a barrel , but this must be 29" long in a classic profile...the rifle stock needs to have a Mannlicher Schoenauer long and sleek design so I can walk and stalk with it as well...(y)(y)

I think I found a example of the stock I want to build for my 8x68 S rifle ...this is a Haenel 10.75 x 68 , I like this rifle stock design,,...I will make the fore-end longer since I want to order a 29.1 '' inch..barrel....I bought a set of claw mounts some time a go and will fit these claw mounts on the 8x68 S

I will change the stock angle and make it a straight front to back rifle stock to absorb recoil..(y)(y)
Something like this stock, the oval rounds on the sides of this rifle stock and a Schnabel will suite this design just fine..

I will make use of the same trigger system that you encounter on the A and B Mausers...(y)

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
