    Bad Boy Melvin

I came along in the 70’s. 1972, I don’t think Dad needed a licence to get my air rifle around 1980’ I needed a licence in 1990 at 18, I got an SKS and some Norinco ammo. That moved on pretty quick then I had the .222 and was well aware of the .243, .22-250etc. My brother had a .303 and I...

    Hello from Sweden!

G’day from Australia. I would sway toward a 7x57 or 7x64 as I like 7mm calibre. Of course there is also the 6.5x55swede as another popular option.

    Looking for Experiences

Courtney’s, Bungee and a Pithy (decent hat) sounds like a great experience. As long as you add a hunt. The worms, what do you wash them down with?

    Looking for Experiences

G’day from Australia. I’m in it for the experience myself. I hunted Africa on a Cull hunt and had the experience without the expense. Yes, you need some budget but I didn’t have taxidermy and shipping.

    Bertram Brass Quality?

I think the negative comments come from years ago. I have 100 x 6.5 Beanmore cases by Bertram Brass in the cupboard for later so I hope they are ok.

    Tonight’s project

@Bert the Turtle good job. Every club range should have one for sighting purposes.

    My .243 story so far...

Another plug for the .25, might have to call you, Predictable Bob. If @Peterwho has a left hand .243 being left hand of course it’s going to be useless.

Another .300 Win Mag in the stable...

Quoting you , “I currently own a Vanguard synthetic in 270WSM that l will never sell...” Can we hold you to that? As you were trialing Atomic 29 155gn in your .308 Norma mag I thought I would try some in my .300wm. Do you think they would be ok for Sambar?

    My .243 story so far...

I’ve tried a lot of stuff and will probably fall into the same trap again. While I’m usually happy with Nosler BT I’ve tried several mono metal projectiles and then I remind myself that soft point projectiles have worked for years and they still do.

show me a pic of your favorite outdoor place ever found

I cannot show a picture of my favourite outdoor place or location. I have always felt relaxed when I arrived somewhere in the Australian Bush. In total I spent around 8-1/2 years working on national parks where my job was based on a remote park where I stayed onsite while rostered on. 2.5...

@BourbonTrail the good doctor is from Queensland. That’s north of the border for me. I think he is based in the capital of QLD Brisbane . In a small city in QLD called Bundaberg they make Bundaberg Rum . If you like that American whisky, Bourbon etc. you may not like Rum. But, spoiler alert I...

    Custom shooting sticks

Tasmanian Oak probably sounds exotic but it’s widely available in Australia. I’m no timber expert by any means but it is often available in dowels and mouldings and must have certain qualities suited to these applications. There is an exotic timber called Huon Pine. I don’t know much about it...
