Does anyone have a reccomendation for outfitters who hunt free range Axis Deer in Texas. I’m not sure if it is predominantly pay by the inch like whitetail hunting has become. I am looking at just a nice representative old male, it doesn’t have to be record book class buck. I would prefer spot & stalk but would be ok with some stand hunting as well.

I hunted with Texas Safaris in Aug 2020. I took two 32” Axis free range spot and stalk near Sonora, TX. I really enjoyed the hunt.
Thanks 375Fox!

X2 on Mulie Mike.

Axis were really hurt by the big freeze 2 years ago. Numbers on a property we hunt were still ~90% down last week.

Where are you at, near me in Boerne, numbers are back. I friend of mine in Kerrville says numbers are back, Blackbuck still down, and another friend in Menard says axis are still down slightly and should be back next year.

Desert safaris with Stephen West. They also have some of the best aoudad hunts. Spike tent in the chinati moutinss south of Marfa tx

They conduct the axis hunts near junction tx with access to a few low fence ranches. Prime free range hill county cedar donkeys

Probs not the cheapest but these are real hunters with passion for doing it right

Definitely not the cheapest, but Joshua Creek Ranch near Boerne has free range Axis Deer and world class facilities.

We've got some great Axis down at Reserve Ranch, here's s a couple of bucks taken last month. Give us a shout, we'll be happy to take care of you.

We are fenced but we do offer outstanding fair chase axis hunting with first class facilities in a very historic and unique part of Texas. We also have many AH’rs that hunt with us and would be glad to offer references.

Gizmo, do you have any axis meat/doe hunts? I'm interested. Thanks.

Nosir, not at this time. We are expanding our herd a bit so we aren’t removing does at the moment.

Hi Joshlee0518 (please let me know if you are fine being addressed like that),

Thought I would drop you a PM. It is super exciting to plan a hunt and we are more than happy to assist you. Have you given any thought yet to which species you would like to take?

What do you hunt usually and which weapons/calibers are you using?

Look forward to swapping experiences and ideas.

Happy hunting - Daniel

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)
