We're looking at hunting buffalo, and perhaps hippo next year in Zimbabwe and would appreciate anyone sharing their experiences with Thaba Mmoyo Safaris. Fanie Steyn is the operator I believe and they hunt the South Eastern part of the country along the Mulirikwi, Lundi, and the Sengwa Rivers.

#1 the only Thaba Mmoyo Safaris I can find operates in South Africa.
Only ZIMBABWE Licensed PH's can conduct hunts in Zimbabwe.

Thanks Brickburn. I understand that they've been operating in Zimbabwe for a number of years.

That may be the case.
The PH MUST be Zimbabwean by law.

FYI:

liable to a fine not exceeding level five or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding
six months or to both such fine and such imprisonment

Thanks for the info.

Sir

Unfortunately, I only stumbled across this conversation now.

We have been in the hunting industry for many years, and I have been marketing in the States for the last 20 years. I have built up a reputation of hard work and honesty. I WILL NOT destroy that now by doing anything illegal or irregular.

We make use of a reputable outfitter in Zimbabwe and all our hunts are conducted by Zimbabwe professional hunters!!

As we all know, Zim law prevents any trophies to be exported out of the country if there is no Tras2 registered and the hunt payment cannot be verified by Zimra. To date we have had NO problems with any trophies that cannot be exported out of the country.

I can assure you that all our hunts whether it is conducted in South Africa, Zimbabwe or any other African country is legal, ethical and above board. You can be certain that we conduct our business is such a way that we can be around for the next 20 to 40 years.

Thanks for the reply.

I did not intend to imply anything illegal was transpiring. Just an FYI for the OP to make sure they ask the questions on the due diligence side.

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
