I just watched a old hunt the high rd Keith warren.
Fist aired sep 18 23 zebra bloodbath.

Surprisingly they used a 50 bag single shot.. they did not say the load or bullet.
The yds were 230.
As you would imagine it threw blood everywhere.
But it did not drop to the shot. They did not say how far it ran. Going by the look on tv I would say at least 75yds.
The shot they say was a good one it was right behind the shoulder.
They say that the meat went to the local community.

It surprised me that they used a 50bmg
And it surprises me that the zebra took a hit behind the shoulder and was able to run that far. The entrance was a 50 cal the exit look baseball size.

Besides it being a bit surprising that they used a 50bmg. Really surprised that a anti meteral cal rifle would be allowed to be imported.
Maybe because it was a single shot.

A .50 solid would behave much like an expanded .338 A-frame, TSX, or similar. I’m sure expanding .50 BMG rounds can be hand-loaded, but I imagine they used milspec stuff.

Even with the heart completely obliterated, an animal can easily go 100 yards. Besides, the 50 BMG is a relatively low velocity round. Excellent BC, and highly energetic, but it’s not likely a high shock-wave impact like from a .300 magnum.

I quit watching Keith Warren a long time ago when he was resorting to pellet rifles and the 50 bmg for his content.
Most animals shot through the heart will run a “short” distance before dropping and zebras do tend to be on the tough side of plains game.

I saw another "High Road" here in Canada where he took a head shot on a Giraffe with that 50 BMG about as sporting as swatting flies

African game can be rather tenacious of life.

I have also seen a video of Mr. Warren employing that same tripod mounted .50 BMG to down a blue wildebeest from a bunker type enclosure in one of his videos. It went some 50 yards, prior to expiring.

During the Indo-Pak War in 1971, I used a jeep mounted .50 BMG Browning M2 Heavy Barrel to once shoot a Sambar stag for camp rations. I fired off a short burst. He took two bullets behind the shoulder (through the heart-lung region from a broadside position), but still went 400 yards before dropping. Granted, I was using army surplus armor piercing military FMJ spitzer tipped ball ammunition.

I selected my Alaskan moose hunt outfitter based on several HIGH ROAD videos. I got my moose but it was a terrible hunting experience. Every 3-4 years, Keith Warren would do a moose or bear hunt with this outfitter. Of course, it was a free hunt in exchange for the publicity and advertising value of the show. In one of the shows, Keith was sitting glassing and took his boots off and was complaining how sore his feet were from all the hiking. It was all fake. He didn’t have a boot sponsor so he was going on and on about sore feet and needing to find some better boots. He was trolling for a boot sponsor. Interestingly, when I was hunting in Namibia in July, the outfitter mentioned that Keith had contacted them and asked about doing a hunt and show with them. Of course it was a free hunt. They declined. I told them about my moose hunt and the Namibian outfitter was happy with their decision.

Keith is also one that claimed he killed a whitetail doe with a 50 cal bullet that missed. The claim was it caused trauma from the bullet speeding past. Total BS and proven many times to be false. Keith is a total fraud and just looking for a money grab. I met him once at a show and he thought he was something special. I pretended not to know who he was and he was offended by the mere thought that I didn't recognize him. Total D bag

I have seen his video's and basically quit watching as most are just stunts for camera. Now I would like to see what he looks like after carrying his BMG for 12-18 miles a day on a buff or elephant stalk on about day six.

I saw the same video and was amazed at the amount of blood. Every pump of the heart was like a garden hose.

I totally agree with Firebird and AZDAVE, it's just gimmicky crap and in my opinion it makes hunters look shitty and gives fuel to the Antis.

However, if you were to listen to the American news media, if he had shot that zebra with a 223 or 5.56 out of an AR platform there would be nothing left of it! Totally obliterated by a thirty round clip with one pull of the trigger!
