ZAMBIA: Off To The Wilds Of Zambia

That looks amazing and outstanding trophies!! I will not be far from there in a few weeks. We are flying into Mfuwe and our tent camp is on the Luangwa. Good luck and great hunting!

Sorry for the delay. I got sucked into the bush for 2 weeks and just came out. Anyway, let me post some more pics and descriptions for all to enjoy.

The local conservation group overseeing North Luangwa National Park "dropped in" to discuss ways to work together in wildlife protection and helping the local community out with me and the team. We work closely with these partners as helping the local communities out and protecting the buffer zones where hunting takes place in these vast government concessions is critical to protecting the adjacent parks.

Of course, we also were getting some hunting done too.

Totally underrated is shooting a few of these Guinea Fowls for supper every now and then.

Doesn't get much better than a herd of buffalo at dusk. Some big boys in this group but all too young to shoot.

What's the name of your camp across from South Luangwa? It looks like where I hunted with Peter Chipman back when I was a kid in the 90s. I would love to go back there.

We hunt the Chifunda hunting block across from North Luangwa National Park and Mumbwa West which borders Kafue National Park.

We also have a private camp in Mwanya Chiefdom on 1000 acre reserve across from South Luangwa National Park for rest and fun and staging supply runs up to Chifunda which is a very remote part of Zambia.

Peter Chipman hunts Lower Lupande and Mwanya hunting blocks in Luangwa and some others I believe.

I did not know Mumbwa West was reallocated. Hasnt it been closed for a few years ?
Yes it was closed and reopened recently. It’s a great spot. We have had clients hunt it since it reopened.

It has arguably the best leopard hunting for size and success rate in all of africa. I can’t think of a better place to hunt a leopard.

Good to hear it is back up and running!

Can’t wait to see your 2025 Mumbwa lion !

I think you could also get an elephant there ?

Buffalo are tough to get there I hear

No elephants on quota in Mumbwa.

On Buffs in Mumbwa, you are right. We have a couple of small herds of 40 to 100 buffs that we are comfortable taking 2 per year out of (from a quota of 4 buffs per year) but we don't represent this area as a buffalo spot. it's a cat spot with great sable and good PG overall (with some unique trophies you can't find in many places like Puku and Defasa Waterbuck) with plus size crocs and great quantities of bushbuck and kudu. It's an awesome area to hunt for cats and really fun hunting after you pick up your cat as we have lots of species to go after plus pretty good bird hunting.

The Nature Conservancy is backing a group called Musekese that is focused on anti-poaching efforts in Mumbwa and controlling encroachment in the hunting block which we are working with to do same. This bodes well for the future of this area.

And you are right, I am excited to see what Lion comes out this year. there are some hosses that come back and forth between the park and the GMA.

Sounds great, one last question …will you see elephants at Mumbwa West?

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
