As I’m sure everyone is aware, the South African authorities have placed an interim closure of Leopard hunting in that country for 2016 and possibly even longer.
I’m also sure everyone reading this notice remembers the furor and chaos of a few years ago when a moratorium on Leopard hunting was instituted here in Namibia due to questionable and unethical/illegal hunting practices by certain outfitters here in Namibia (which, inter alia, in turn, led to the implementation of the current Leopard tag system that we now use).
Given the fact that the South African authorities have not allowed Leopard hunting in that country, it goes without saying that a great many South African outfitters will now be looking to bring their clients on a Leopard hunt here in Namibia.
A word of caution, therefore, to all our members to ensure that, if they are hunting Leopard with South African outfitters, to make sure they maintain the highest standards of ethical behavior and to adhere to all legal requirements for the hunting of Leopard.
Keep it legal folks, we don’t want to also lose our right to hunt Leopards.
