I do have this beautiful Winchester mod 70 classic super express in .375 and I like to use the iron sights what would you normally zero it on ? 50 yards ? If yes will there be much difference in elevation between 50-100-150 yards. It’s only have one rear sight which is adjustable. I use 300 grain Hornady DGX

My 416 is sighted in for 50. I wouldn’t plan on using it at 150, but that’s personal for me. That sight is difficult for me to discern because of the narrow U-shape. Irons on a mid to large bore would be used for DG in my mind, so that would relegate it to 0-100yds.

You will get about 3.7”of drop at 150 for a 375 sighted at 50 per the SBC ballistics calculator.

Sight it in for 50. Go shoot it at 100 and then 200. If it drops more than you’re comfortable with, bump it up a little at 50. If you’re planning on being accurate at 200, put some glass on it.

I'll be an odd ball here and say how about 1" high at fifty yards. Here's why:

If you zero +1.0" at fifty you're only 4" low at 200 yards which is beyond your stated distance of shooting, but you never really know. Assuming a sight height of ¾" and velocity of 2500 fps.

I believe my #1 is set up that way as well. Works out to a zero somewhere around 210 or so. Nothing more than 2.5" high along the way.

The sight line height above the bore line determines the ballistics geometry. An online, free ballistics calculator like those of JMB Ballistics is well worth the look see for this stuff. Easy to use and not rocket science.

Very handy to print out a range card to carry with you. I've printed a few out for each rifle and bullet combo and taped them to the plastic ammo boxes for quick reference.

Even at 300yds 19.19” is roughly the distance of a normal size whitetail deer from the top of shoulder the to bottom of chest.
