I guess I don’t get out enough, but I’ve never seen a scope mount like that? I’m assuming the scope swings off to the left allowing the use of the open sights? If so, does it work well? Thanks!

Never used it to be honest it’s well built Weaver made on way back in the day.

We had them on a lot of deer rifles in PA back in the day (1960 - 1970s). Mainly for rain or snow issues . I still have couple laying around. The Weaver ones held zero pretty good.

I might be interested in your rifle. Can you tell me what year it was manufactured? Bore condition?

Re. tip off mounts. I've had a similar Weaver Tip Off Mount on my 30 - 06 for over 30 years. I never had any problem with it not returning to zero.

Where is this located? Are you an FFL? Nice looking rifle. The stock looks very similar to a McMillan I have on a pre-64

I had a Parker Ballard 30.06 that my father purchased for me with those type mounts made by weaver. It held zero but I eventually replaced them with a normal set of rings mainly because I kept worrying that it suddenly wouldn't hold zero lol . This took place in PA in the 90's.

Fyi...these are Pachmayr swing away mounts. We're pretty decent mounts for what they were.

Congrats to the seller and the buyer! I was close on this one but decided to hold out for wood!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
