Hello all,

I was wondering which concessions/outfitters produce the biggest elephant in Zimbabwe and Namibia?
Thanks

Welcome to AH m1972! Don't have any idea but I'm sure we have some members here that will be glad to help you out enjoy the site.

Hi and welcome! Someone on here should have that info.

m1972 not sure where you are from but just as a note if you are planning an Elephant hunt USFW has band importing Elephant Ivory from Zim into the US. or that's the last word I got.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice guys. I will not be importing the ivory into the U.S. so Zimbabwe is still on the table.

Another Namibian hunter who takes some decent bulls is Karl Strumpfe. He hunts in the Caprivi. He is a member here. You might pm him.

There were a couple of large elephants taken this year near Hwange. I don't remember who the outfitters were though. Maybe others here can help.

There was another one or two taken down by the Gonarezhou in the last couple of years. These bulls are coming out of Kruger. I believe SSG Safaris was the outfitter.

Hopefully others here can help you.

All the best.

If your not looking at importing to the USA you may consider Mozambique as well.

Hi m1972

I'm from Namibia and can help you a small bit... Maybe just point you in the right direction.

Huntafrica Namibia Safaris - James Chapman & Koos Pienaar are very good choices and they average very good on their ivory every year. But you'll have to book way in advance!
SMJ Safaris - Stephan Jacobs has the Nyae-Nyae concession area which is world-renowned for its big elephant. The previous concessionaire (Kai-Uwe Denker) shot three 100 pounders in the ten years he hunted the area and had an average of over 75 pounds for some seasons. But honestly, I don't know how Stephan is doing with concession currently. However, I can assure you, Stephan has the best area, but its definitely the toughest area to hunt too. Like previously mention, Karl Stumpfe from Ndumo Hunting Safaris would also be a good call. I don't know what poundage he averages per year, but what I can tell you is he is a good PH and is a great hunter.

As for Zimbabwe, the PH that shot the 100 pounder last year near Hangwe National Park is Russ Broom if I recall correctly... I'm not 100% sure!

Hope that info helps a little!
Regards, Jacques Strauss

Thanks for all the information guys. I really appreciate it.

The Gonarezhu area hunted by Nixon Dzingai has consistently produced heavy ivory.
In the Matetsi area ivory is typically light with the exception of the woodlands area. This
heavily forested area provides cover for the large bulls traveling into and out of neighboring Botswana. This area is hunted
regularly by Guav Johnson and he takes some heavy bulls each year. The area just south of Hwange, Tsholotsho, is producing some very large ivory. This area was hunted last year by Martin Pieters. Everyone wants that magic fifty pounder but the reality is that there are only very specific areas that are
carrying bulls of that size with consistency. I do not have the expertise in some of the other countries so can only offer my
opinion regarding Zimbabwe which is still a great value if you do your homework.

Here is a photo of a large bull that was taken by a friend of mine PH Marthinius Kok in Zimbabwe.
This was taken in Deka Tail Safari area near Hwange National Park and weighed in at 101/82 lb e

Wow, I've seen this pic before, but still it's a wow.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all this information. It has been helpful. Still deciding who to go with.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
