Thinking of adding a Croc to my next hunt. What interesting things have you done with skull and hides? I am sure I do not want to fasten it to my living room ceiling for display, but it would start a discussion for sure.

We did a skull mount with my wife’s ’ croc… and then made a rug from the hide…

The rug isn’t comfortable to walk on lol… but it makes an interesting conversation piece laid out underneath our pool table… :)

I know people have made shotgun and rifle cases from them. Both hard sided and soft slips.

For me it depends on the length of the croc.
Options:

A. Full body mount under a glass top coffee table.

B. Floor shoulder mount, with open mouth (as if attacking), a glass base (to simulate water), positioned in a scene with a fully body mount of a small PG animal.

Use the rest of the hide for other items: vest, jacket, belt, holster, etc.

C. Full body mount that can go on the wall or floor with open mouth.

I have a large bronzed croc skull coming back to me from last year….something like this. I like the effect.

Does anyone here have any croc stones? I remember at one time an article being posted about them on here

I realize they are bigger than out average alligator here in south Louisiana, but euro the skull, custom boots, belts and wallets are fine uses for the belly/neck skin. That's what I have done with many of ours we caught.

I have seen some fantastic full mounts of a croc swimming down a wall & out sort of.

I thought I had some pics but can’t find them now, did find some old shoulder mounts lol

Unfortunately my biggest Croc went to the bottom of the Limpopo after I shot him off a farmers prized Ankole Cow, broke my heart !

Sort of like these.

Some great ideas here.
I would like a flat skin, maybe some items made from hide if I had a second one.
I would probably try the meat too. Might not be something I would usually eat but would try it if I shot it.

Strange you should say that....friend from back where I come from shot a big Croc 16ft 4 inches ....he has quite a big hall type lounge ...dining room ..party room with very high domed ceiling.....apparently has quarter of a ton of speakers in it.....bit of a side trip but he used to race sports prototypes in the 1960s and 70s....he has a recoding of le mans on vinyl ....its on the mulsanne straight.....and when you stand in the middle of the room and he puts it on....mind blowing.....ford gt40s....Ferraris etc sound like they are actually screaming past you.....wild....he also after practice when the porsche 917 first came out at le mans got out after taking it out for practice and said I am not driving this it's too fkn dangerous....walked away....his replacement driver was killed in the early part of the race when he crashed....was talking to one of the factory drivers years later....he said we all wanted to do what he did as it was so unstable...but if we had we wouldn't have driven again...my friend has a few pounds so it didn't matter to him...also in a privateer team....anyway apologies for the detour...it was on a hunt I booked for him in Tanzania and went with him....he had a full flat skin rug including head done....and yup it's on the ceiling in that room....not sure how high but 20 feet I would say at least....Will see if can get him to send me a photo of it....

I’m having my skull done then skin tanned and re colored. Then it will become a blanket for one of the gun safes haha

I am doing the same thing with mine. The color I chose was cognac. Not sure yet what I will have made from it. Really looking forward to the euro skull.

I just have a finished flat skin with mouth open.

I've never shot a crock, but have killed 4 alligators, and this is what I did with the biggest one.

Shoulder mount the head and tanned the belly skin hoping to make some boots, but my mom talked me out of it and said it would look great on the wall, it's been on the wall since. Another is to do floor mounts.

That's fantastic-looking skin, may I know who tanned it for you? And of course, you can make some bespoke shoes, boots etc...

I’m having one of the stones from my croc made into a pendant for a necklace on my wife. She is excited in a good way about it. I saved all the stones. The rest reside in our oddity cabinet.

This was done in FL about 25 years ago, and unfortunately I do not remember who the tanning business was.

This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.

Have twice tried to post something that your site canned as "SPAM" or some problem.. "Contact the Administrator"... Not sure why even the "Contact" button would not send my comment so you only received my query but not the content in question. I'll see if I can get it to you this way... NOPE I use a VPN and perhaps that is causing me grief...
