What are your 3 favorite hunts?

Have to qualify answer as most hard core hunting preferences are largely past tense. :)

Around home territory- DIY big, old mule deer bucks not tied to ag lands

Travel domestic- DIY fly out, drop camp caribou in Alaska

Travel international- Africa, hunting DG or PG with any good tracker. None come close to ability of the San trackers of the Kalahari

With which outfitter?
Not sure which trip you are asking about. My South Africa hunt was with Van Wijk Safaris. My March hunt in Argentina will be with El Pampa Hunting Ranch.

Curious if we would be with the same outfitter in March. We will not.

I will be back with Los Molles in March ‘27 for red stag.

What I really want to do is Poland or something like that for stag or roe.

Around home; Big mature Mule Deer bucks and Upland birds with my pointer. Close second is big mature Pronghorn bucks.

Out of country; I'm booked for my first trip to Africa, hoping that expierience will fuel the fire thats been ignited for 30 years.

Future; I really hope to hunt Cape Buffalo in Luanga Valley, Selous, Niassa, Karamojo, Save and Matetsi. Brown bears on the peninsula.

I’ve been eyeing Bulgaria but I think the family voted to go back to Africa so I’ll have to put Europe on the back burner I think. I really want a stag, fallow, and Mouflan and maybe a boar as well.

Yea for sure. That's a good option. I have clients in Poland that I would like to visit sometime but I would love to see more of Europe. No shortage of options.

Hmm, reading the thread, so many cool hunts folks have gone on. Domestic or overseas does swing the ranking, a first trip to SA or other places in Africa just about trumps anything I have done domestically.

Not in order but the three most memorable and I guess favorite hunts

A 43" plus Bull Cape Buffalo with the Bow, after he had already tried attacking folks. Watched him fall over.
A Bull Elk with the Bow, shot and watched him fall over
A Big old Whitetail with the Bow, last second kind of time in the woods.

But I don't judge it too much anymore on best or worst, so damn lucky I still get to do any of it.
New out country hunt coming up in April, will surely add to the potential for best or most memorable.

My absolute favorite hunt is the after Christmas whitetail deer hunt with my flintlock, followed very closely by whitetail deer hunting with my longbow.

Second favorite is grouse, woodcock, and upland game birds with my old school side x side shotguns in 20 & 28 gauge. I also hunt them using a 12-gauge percussion side x side. A bit more sporting that way. Hoping Santa Claus brings the 20-gauge flintlock side x side I've been wanting this year. Think using it would be a blast (pun intended).

After that it's hunting anything anywhere, particularly in Africa. Would love to hunt an elephant, lion, and a couple more buffalo. Australian buffalo is also on the want list.

1. Pronghorns at home in Wyoming when I can get a tag. As a non-resident this is rarer, but still the best. Especially with family. The problem it is always done before you want it to be over.

2. Red stags or elk on private land during the rut.

3. Predator hunts, baboons are the obvious winner. But hogs and coyotes are also a good option.

Baboon hunting is very challenging and doesn’t get enough respect. Next time you hit your goals before running out of time, switch over to baboons and see how it goes. You might get one…maybe…but I bet you don’t get two from the same group!

I think it depends on where you are.

In the mountains in open country like the Khomas Highlands in Namibia, you'd probably be able to take a couple from one group.

There is a very good DVD available from David Tubb the accuracy rifle F-class, 3 position champion where they take about 40 or 50 over a week in South Africa in mountain country. A lot of this is available on his YouTube channel.
