Looking for a factory take off CZ 550 Magnum American style wood stock.
Redoing a 416 Rigby and the stock has been shortened and really rough.
Prefer original wood vrs Bell and Carlson.
Let me know if you know of one. I have searched internet and none located.

@Mark Biggerstaff I'd call AHR / Matrix and ask if they have a mint take-off stock from one of their custom rifles built on a 550 action. They helped me out in the past with a stock I needed to bring to Africa to mend a broken PH gun.

Already have. Neither of them have any.
Talked to Wayne yesterday about some things and he said he had no idea on finding one either. Just figured I would put it out on AH incase someone might know of one.

Old Idaho Arms only has Bavarian style take offs, called them also.

Called Kevin Weaver, he said he'd look through his pile and give me a call if he had one. The only one he found right off was a hogback.

Jesus, I have one, and it is gorgeous (well, or I found it better looking than it should be), off my 458 lott but I really am not interested in selling.

What are you looking to pay, I believe you've got a great reputation for being a decent egg, so perhaps I'll let it go, I've got a B&C on mine and can't see going elsewhere so...

I'll go dig it out now and see if my amateur photography can do it justice.

Do you need a right or left hand stock?

This thing is in perfect shape.
k let me see if I can get the pics to attach
Dark with very consistent coloring, nice lines, I really loved it or I'd have just burned it

forgive the photos

Forgive me I'm going back and forth between phone and computer. As mediocre as these look on my phone they look far worse on my 120" projector

Some more

IMO, the Bavarian style CZ stocks seem to direct recoil both upward and backward, while the American style stocks seem to direct recoil directly backward, and into the shooter.

I prefer the Bavarian, even though I am a red-blooded, and probably red-necked, American!

Makeover of the 416 Rigby has started thanks to @calling4life selling me the new stock. It has been fitted and glass bedded.
Metal will go out to Cerakote this week.
The old Bavarian stock that was on it was really beat up. Rifle seemed heavy and when took out of original stock I found out why! The stock weighed a ton it felt like. Previous owner somewhere down the mine had drilled 2, 1/2 diameter holes in buttstock and filled it full of lead!

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
