I am looking to see who might have a Jaeger forend with a 17mm barrel channel they’d be willing to part with. My brother and I have R8s, and his has a 22 mm forend for a match contour barrel. He is looking to purchase a separate 17 mm forend with a wood shade hopefully similar to his buttstock.

I guess I did realize I was in search of unicorn feathers. How about a jaeger stock set? Butt stock and forend with 17 mm channel for standard taper barrel.

My brother has a Jaeger 17 mm and is looking for a 22mm forend to trade.
Matching wood might be unicornish.

Call Mad Dog Guns.
Other dealers I'd highly recommend (in no particular order)...

Thanks for the offer DB. We already resolved the situation however. I had promised to buy my brother the barrel he wanted and get him a 17mm forend that was close to his buttstock in return for the 458 Win Mag barrel that came on his gun and his forend with the 22mm forend. When I realized you cant buy just a forend I was put in a situation where I had to make good on my promise to my brother. He had been on the journey of making his R8 purchase for about 4 or 5 months, and now I was holding him up. I ended up buying his stock set instead of just the forend, allowing him to buy a new grade 5 stock set with the 17 mm forend he wanted. I took his stockset with 22 mm forend and put a nice Limbsaver Nitro pad on the buttstock for use with the 458 Win Mag and will use in warm weather clothes where the longer length of pull is not a issue. For fall and winter I will switch to my original stock with the shorter pad and lighter caliber.
To be honest, I am suprised at how the 22mm forend looks with my fluted 17 mm barrel. Maybe the fluting draws your eyes from the gap, but it hardly seems to jump out at you unless you look straight down on top of it. Its not nearly as offensive as I had thought it would be. I am going to a party today on a private range today, so I will get some opinions from a dozen or so people as to how the slim barrel looks in the big channel.

I had talked to Cove Creek and Blaser USA, and I believe my brother had talked to Mad Dog. We were told forends were not available separately, you had to get a stock set. I thought I had read on AH of guys having aquired them in the past.
Blaser USA said that even on a warranty case, if you had a split forend, they replaced the complete stock set so that both pieces came from the same stock blank. I guess that way they cut down on making a order and having someone complain that the ordered forend didnt match their existing buttstock.

Did you receive this reply to a post you had about Blaser forend?

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
